Six Degrees Of Gustav

Many A2Ker's may actually have encountered Gustav Ratzenhofer at one point in their lives. (Shewolf mentioned that a guy who looked like Gus tried to pick her up at a bar. Chai believed that Gus was the annoying clerk at her local hardware store.)

This is my story. When I came to the United States as a child, we first lived with an uncle in Wisconsin. I vaguely remember that my uncle employed a handyman/gardener for a very brief time who left town because of a scandal which I was too young to understand. Anyway, looking at my parent's photo album, I saw a photo from our stay with my uncle (circa 1956). It appears to be a photo of the handyman and he looks like a younger Gustav Ratzenhofer.

Does anyone else feel that Gus has touched their lives, even briefly?

This is a picture of Alex. Back in 1984 I was traveling in Eastern Europe and we meet and had a very healthy role in the hay. He mentioned some of his sheep were a very rare variety from America that were known as Swamp Sheep. It seems these sheep were able to live under water because they were raised for generations in a swamp. I asked him how he got these sheep and he said his father, Taras, had a torrid romance with a woman named Gertrude back in 1929 while importing black market vodka into prohibition America. She was the 1929 version of a Hooter's Girl in a speakeasy. After Taras went back to Ukraine, Gertrude, in a moment of rebound, ended up marrying a local eccentric named Gustav Ratzenhofer, but she never forgot her beloved Taras and sent him some of Gustav's special sheep. Gus doesn't even know that some of his swamp sheep roam the hills of Ukraine. Gertrude originally wanted to send capybaras, but she knew Gus would notice they were missing from the bedroom.

What a good looking dog that Alex is, too bad his master goes around in torn pants.

Once, when I was backpacking in Maine, I came across a fellow who was overly friendly and had apparently lost his way while exploring alternative sources of energy. Like a puppy dog, he kept following me around, until I got a restraining order.

I also found a newspaper clipping:

Quote:
Weekly Crime Report
(Occom County Journal, September 16, 1956)

A baffling series of animal mutilations on farms in Wandelsburg will likely remain unsolved. The lone suspect, a transient handyman, has not been seen by his employer for several weeks. When asked why no arrest was made, Sherriff Fritz Hynie replied: "We did not have any good evidence. This is 1956 and DNA testing has not been invented yet."

i suspect that BORAT is gustav in disguise ... or is it the other way around ?

I have seen many things in my time, but hamburger - that takes the cake.

I hadn't expected to experience throw-up in my mouth this morning so it's been an event.

Thanks for that.

I don't know whether to call the mods and have you tarred and feathered - oh wait, Borat probably tried that out already - please don't post a picture of it.....

although posts 1 through 3 demonstrate an admirable sense of tough independence, number 4 shows an tendency towards judgmentalism that I find disturbing and number 5 makes me fear for my fellow posters through your clear tendency towards violence. Please seek help immediately.

Since you're right there is Oz land I would suggest you counsel with dwabbitt. She knows everything... or so she's been telling us all these years.

Good luck and God bless.

That's a potato?

Well I guess he got it half right anyway - at least he put it in the front.

Hahaha. That's hilarious. Shoes on the beach... hahaha.
