Heck yes. I was just yelling at the road crew this morning to hurry up and finish making the West Side nice and smooth. (No, I didn't, but they have finished the roadway all the way to just North of the Sheep Meadow.)

How far do you have in mind?

The points of interest will be noted along the way.

...but a five or six mile loop would be nice...

I'll be the bald guy wearing a dark blue sleeveless shirt and dark blue shorts.
(Goes well with my varicose veins.)

I, too, will be participating in this by watching from the sidewalk as Joe and George streak by.

Here's one six miler: George's Loop I

It's a nice up hill to the res, then cut across it's South end while the sun rises, turn North again and run with Fifth Ave and the Museum Mile to our right. Cut across the traverse and follow the rolling hills back towards the start but cut across again (to gain about 3/4 of a mile) and see a view of the Lake, finally, dodge the horse carriages starting to hitch up and trot back to the finish.

Did eleven miles this morning trying to figure out how to work in every uphill in Central Park into a six mile run.

There's going to be some doubling back
(Of course, I always run up Cat Hill before I run down it. Of course.)

I think I have it. We going to cut over by the fountain and then past the Boathouse to Cat Hill. (Which is nothing by the way.) Then cruise along by Cleo's Needle, make a short pilgrimage to Fred's statute, mark some time on the reservoir path then back to the road. Cut across at the transverse and head to the finish. It's up until you get near the theatre, then it's a gallop past the Tavern on the Green and the Sheep Meadow.

My achilles tendons are damaged and in running to catch a bus last week, which was unnecessary because the bus was five minutes late, which has crippled me for a week at least, I have proved to myself that I should never run again.

Crying or Very sad

The doc says surgery won't help, and has given me anti-inflammatories.

George is a very nice fellow, I say that despite the fact that he tried to KILL me. I was trying to describe the lovely aspects of the park, but it was impossible to do that and gasp for air at the same time.

The reason I wrote that was I would be pleased to hear from anyone who has any suggestions to make as to how the problem might be overcome, even for slow jogging.

I used to be quite fleet of foot, and enjoyed it. I was in the local harriers (running club). I was county champion at 120yd hurdles when I was u-18 and was quite useful at 440 yds and 880 yds distances.

Now, I cycle. Smile

Nuthin wrong with cycling. i still find it more fun than running. speed can be addictive. then again, a good run is so satisfying.
i've no idea what your heels are up to. my spasms and cramps were resolved by enough hydration, but that's most likely not the same thing.

We biked up about 5 miles of he ST Croix fault in New Brunswick yesterday. I went and bought 2 bikes for me and mrs F and my colleague brought 2 neat little motorbikes. Very quiet and zippy. I shall now have to "GET ME ONE-A THESE"

I thought you were offering me an excuse to use for being as slow as molasses in January, but now I see you want to able2know.
The good news is the MD doesnlt want to cut on you. Take the anti-imflammatories for five days or so AFTER the pain goes away. You didn't say what kind of damage you've already done, but if it's a come and goes kind of thing, a combination of yoga, warm soaks and massage can do wonders in a few weeks time.
Also, have someone watch you pedal that bike, your seat may be too low.

Wait a minute! Joe is by no means a slug and HE set the pace at the start.
But we we settled on a good pace and Joe was an excellent jogging tour
guide of the park. Hmmm... "Joe's Jogging Tours". Catchy. Central Park
is a marvelous place to run, especially at that hour (but I doubt whether I
could maintain Joe's early morning schedule). I learned a great deal
about the wonders of the park, including where to go (in more ways than
one) if you must deal with the "Dag Uh-oh" problem.

Many thanks, Joe, it was great to finally meet you!

I'm sure Dag will love having that particular problem named after her...!

Sounds great though (well not the problem but the run), that's so cool that the two main A2K runner guys got to run together.
