parmat's "face" is a great one. I like it in the context of all of these impressionistic ones you tend to post, too. Really pops out at you -- what focus.

I know huh? Impressive for sure. Glad you like it.

Nadja, ja teblja ljublju! ("Nadia, I love you" - it's what the graffiti in the background says) by
ngila
That's a nice sentiment.
I have a picture somewhere of myself in front of a graffito in some relatively run down hill top village on the French Riviera (just over the border from Italy). It says, "Yankee f*ck you."
And, by roundabout manners, feeling a bit like ossobuco, or p'rhaps like m'self -- thanks for this thread, nimh. I like when it pops up in my egosearch.
Glad you like it Patio :-)
I'm a big fan of random proclamations on walls and corners. Here in Budapest there's a big Russian Ja teblja ljublju too, by the Chainbridge. In Utrecht, one year, there were big HUGs everywhere - I mean, it said "HUG" everywhere. Then, couple years later, there were two little hearts tagged all over town.
The Germans, or more specifically the Berliners, are best in random public declarations though. I collected a bunch when I lived there for a few months - "Dont cry - work", and "Why are there so many old alcoholics and so few old doctors" and "Smash up what is smashing you up" are some that I remember from the few streets around me. All print photos tho, nothing digital.
I have a dozen or so captures of random street statements here in Budapest in this set though.
I think I've talked about this before but I love it -- E.G. has a photo, taken when he was in high school, of him standing next to a large graffito of "I HATE EVIL GENIUS" (with his actual name that is), smiling ruefully. (He did many things that weren't received well in his small town/ suburban midAmerica highschool...)

Well then, get a scanner and git to it!

Ha :-). Alas, no scanner - and the photos are still stored in Holland.
But there's a bunch of other photos of mine
here...
For 12 April...
OK, for once - a cute kitten picture.

I was going to post
this lurid abstract, but it comes with a very stern copyright warning, so alas.

For 14 April, an intriguing but recognizable street scene - punks, old school style. I like the guy to the right because he is, like - the embodiment of it.

The photographer comments:
Quote:When I walked past this scene, it was obvious to me that the lady had approached the kids and some sort of intense but friendly conversation was going on. I got the feeling she knew them, perhaps one of them was a grandchild.
It's really interesting that the photo comes out looking so confrontational. [..] I shot a number of images, and in other ones it's slightly more obvious that it's a friendly meeting (she's the one reaching out, grabbing a hold of them, not the other way around): But I liked this image because it was ambivalent and really shows how easy it is to use photography to manipulate your message.
