I would like to know where the two tablets that the ten commandments were inscribed on is. Were they never found and are lost forever, or are they in a museum or church somewhere?

After Moses destroyed the original two stone tablets in anger at the incident of the golden calf, he re-ascends Mount Sinai to obtain the commandments again.

The stone tablets, Aaron's Rod, and Mana were placed into the Ark of the Covenant, and covered by the Seat of Mercy. After the building of Solomon's Temple, the Ark was the principle item within the Holy of Holies. When the Temple was destroyed most of its furnishings were looted and carried off into captivity. There is no record that the Ark was among the loot, and legend has it that the Ark was concealed until it was reclaimed and placed into the Holy of Holies of Herod's Temple. No one can be sure, because access was limited to a few priest during annual rituals.

The Ark is not believed to have fallen into Roman hands, and the general supposition is that it was hidden again. The whereabouts of the Ark of the Covenant is not known.

The leading possibilities are:

1. The ArK wasn't in Herod's Temple. Perhaps never recovered after the Captivity, or stored elsewhere.

2. The Ark remains hidden somewhere within or near the Temple Mount.

3. The Ark was taken out of Jerusalem, and hidden somewhere else in what was then Judea.

4. The Ark was spirited out of the country. One of the places often mentioned as a location is in a small monastery in Ethiopia. The monks there claim to possess the Ark of the Covenant. No one but a few senior monks ever are permitted into what they regard as the Holy of Holies. The ancient rituals are performed by Ethiopian priests, and the public there is convinced that they possess the Ark. However, no one can be certain without invading the sanctuary and opening the Ark to discover if it does indeed contain the Tablets, Rod, and Mana.

'nuff said?

Greetings,

It's all a myth, they don't exist.
