The Power of Suggestion

I don't know how common it is or whether it's just you. An interesting and empathetic reaction. My experiences in hospitals (in a just-visiting capacity) are different. I don't react to the general situation. But if the person I'm visiting tells me what hurts, it hurts me too.

Obviously, I don't do well at hospital visiting, either. Whenever possible, I call instead.

Actually, most people I've known prefer getting a call. We're all self-conscious about people seeing us when we're in distress. And a phone call isn't nearly as tiring, either.

Reviving this thread with a report.

I was watching the Westminster Dog Show last night. At one point I reached up to scratch my face.

My nose was cold--and a little wet. Shocked

Woof.

I think I've gone over the deep end.

... on the other hand, my cat somehow seems to have picked up on the powerful suggestion that I am a cat, too!

Meow! Very Happy

Second night of Westminster. My nose seemed human again. I guess I was more into the first night.

End of report.

@Roberta,
I'm responding to this years later...

it was that night blindness, a symptom of the eye disease retinitis pigmentosa, which I was being checked for (heh, because I went to the clinic in the first place because I saw some full page ad about RP and the symptoms fit my history..), can be an effect of syphilis, so that had to be ruled out.

Does the active mirror neuron propensity correlate to any degree of gullibility, in anyone's opinion? Or, is gullibility just reflective of an honest person not believing that others would lie, if he/she does not?
