Chinese and Taiwanese slang help

Reply Tue 30 Jan, 2007 05:29 am
Hello. I am interested in and am doing research on Chinese and Taiwanese youth, street and college slang.

What are Cantonese and Mandarin slang terms for "tomboy"-a girl that likes to do guy things?

What are Taiwanese dialect slang terms for "tomboy" and "brat"?

Please list as many terms as possible. Very Happy

"tomboy" in Chinese should be "nan ren po" and ...sorry ,can't come out with a Taiwanese right now ....
"brat " should be "xi yingna " in Taiwaness or "caoxiogia"
don't know how to make it sound right ..
can you read Chinese?

Hello ai-thank you for responding. Yes, please post the Chinese text. Can you please post the pinyin for the terms as well? The reason is, my computer doesn't recognize certain Chinese characters.

I don't believe the A2K software can handle Chinese characters.

Hello Ai, how are you?

Do you know any Cantonese slangs for "tough guy", besides "Ta ke", and "dai lo"?

What are the Taiwanese dialect, Taiwanese Hokkien and Teochew, Taiwanese Mandarin slangs for "girl that likes to do "guy" things"-like climb trees, ride motorcycles, drink and smoke, etc. -besides 查甫體 and "T". Please let me know, and please list as many slangs as possible. Thank you.

jia xiao zi (read it in terms of the rule of Chinese Pronunciation)
It means a girl who has the personalities of a boy and acts like a boy.

Semantically 'Jia xiaozi' is equivalent, but it's a rather unfamiliar phrase, sounding rather out-of-date Smile

Hi-I'm writing a comic book-some of my characters are Taiwanese and I want to give them Taiwanese names.

Hello Ai-are you there?

Someone told me:

"yi shi cha-bo-lang diong e cha-bo-lang", and "chit-e cha-bo-lang chin yong" and " za-bo-lang e za-bo--查甫人的查甫" are 3 ways to say "man among men" in Hokkien. Is there a shorter way to say these terms?
