The Assassination Of George W. Bush????

Reply Sat 13 Jan, 2007 09:46 pm
It was mentioned in another thread by LSM.
I got to thinking if there lies any possibility that there are eough pissed off and frustrated Americans that this might actually be a serious future reality.

Not everyone is aware that knocking King George off his throne would bring Cheny up to bat, but do you think that America is capable of making a statement like this?

Keep in mind which Americans in the past were either assassinated, or had an attempt made on their life......

I am not advocating this scenario, but it seems that both a revolution and impeachment are off the list--and the bulk of Americans don't seem content to passively observe this train wreck as it slowly and predictably manifests itself.....

Tell him what he's won, Bob... That's right... a Brand New FBI File... Possibly including a nifty audit and an all expense paid trip to beautiful Guantanamo Bay Cuba!

I think bushs' people are VERY aware of his popularity.... about how many nutcases are running around.... and I suspect his security is as high or higher than anyone's in the world.

I can't stomach the guy but I wouldn't wish that on him.

I don't see it happening. End of story.

IMO, nutcase looking for his 15 minutes is a lot more likely than anything politically motivated.

I would suspect that Bush, like all American presidents, and numerous other world leaders, is always at risk of assassination.

History suggests that every now and then some nutter is able to do it.

I do not believe in capital punishment for Bush any more than any one else, and I cannot think of a worse way of getting rid of him.

Think, even leaving aside the morality and the violation of the rule of law (which, of course, Bush himself violates in many of his policies, but you cannot condemn this in him and then support it in getting rid of him) of the martyrdom effect.

I wonder how much of the incomprehensible adoration of Reagan came about because of the assassination attempt?

T'would truly be a sad state of affairs if merely inquiring about a hypothetical would yield such a punitive result, when, as mentioned, the raison d'etre of the secret service is to protect the President should said hypothetical become a reality.

I repeat, I don't advocate the scenario...but domestic or homegrown terrorism has been a reality in American history and attempts have been made in the past on public figures far more popular than Bush.

There was even a mock dramatization of a Bush assassination a few moths ago if I remember correctly. I am simply inquiring into the liklihood that some nutjob might make a go at it in the next 2 years.

What did you make of it seen through that lens?

There's someone still responding to Nimh as though he is Gus somewhere.

Nah, it has to do with internecine avatar fooling around, nothing to do with world affairs. Trust me.

Well, trust me on that, but maybe not other stuff.

I've been thinking he's been mellowing lately (although I never read the "supporter's" thread). But I was mighty surprised by this
