This is for a tattoo, right? Or a motto? Well, you'll end up with a meaningless Latin phrase, since the Romans did not know about saving the planet and all that eco stuff. Using the word "green" to mean environmentally aware is a modern idiom. Idioms don't translate word-for-word. If you mean, it's not easy being colored green, then that's plain nonsense, and could not be translated into Latin properly.

Maybe if you re phrase what you want to say it might be possible to come up with a Latin phrase that roughly corresponds with your wishes.

No, this is not for a tat, and has nothing to do with the environment. My surname is "Green" and I'm a naval officer. The translation is for a witty reply to a friends barb, (who is somewhat of a latin nut) about hopw hard done by I sometimes feel. Any help?

well, they had different words for different shades of green, prasinus was leek-leaf green, prullus was grass green so how about

non facile est esse prasinum

or

non facile est esse prullum

I hope I've got the declensions right - I daresay you pal will soon tell you. (It's 40 years since i studied Latin)
