Oh, people here fly into a panic at any sign of snow or ice.

That is, until they get in their car. Then they can't understand why they just can't drive as if it's 60 degrees and sunny.

The worst offenders in my opionion, are people who drive SUV's and the like. I've shaken my head as I watched one zip by me, going much much faster than is safe.

@Setanta,
44 degrees here, supposed to get to 60 today (15.5 C). I'm not sorry it's not colder. I think of cold primarily as gas bills bulging upwards.

Will I ever learn to memorize varying degrees Fahrenheit and their corresponding numbers in Celsius? I think probably never. I think I'll have to memorize some high heat numbers and extreme cold numbers and keep in mind what freezing is in both and extrapolate/guess from there. Nevah mind wind chill, we didn't have such a thing in my youth and I'm mentally traveling back there in math.

Keep warm and safe, all.

@ossobuco,
Ossob - this is my Celsius cheat sheet

start at 20C ... warm

and go up and down from there

10C cool

0C cold

-10C colder

-20C too cold

- 30C freaking cold

going up from 20C warm

30C hot

40C too hot

@ehBeth,
C to F?

I multiply by 1.8 then add 32.

Seriously.

Honest.

Our great-grandchildren, in their flying cars, will listen as we tell the tales of the 5-year winter.

@Region Philbis,
Brrr...it went down to upper 40s here in paradise. I had to put on socks for a change.

@Ragman,
I feel for you, Rags. Trying to remember the last time I put on socks. Been raining here but temps staying in the 70s.

@Ragman,
I still have a sock drawer. Don't wear them often here, even in our oft chilly but not all that cold winter. I did buy myself some tights from Walgreens on sale about a week ago. Assuming they will fit, that'll leave me with only cold ankles. I like long skirts. I'm way out of the fashion zeitgeist, natch.

@ehBeth,
Well, 23 degrees here yesterday, today only 20.

Waaaaaaaay too early - we usually don't get that before May. Very Happy

(Celsius degrees, btw, roughly around 70 F)
