Hi,
1. I am planning to get married soon, is it better to do so before or after the year end, to take advantage of the tax break?
2. My 'to-be' wife just opened her business, is there any way I can secure my own assets if something were to happen to her business?
Thanks!
Joe
Re: Marriage - Tax Fiiling and Securing Assets
As a general rule, two single people filing separately get a better total tax bill, so as a general rule, you might wait, though a year seems like a long wait.
Is her business incorporated. If so, you are probably good. If not, the answer might depend on whether or not you live in a community property state.
