It's looking Blue, sublime.
Mmmnnnn... double entendre.
Now the question is who do I want da Bears to beat in the Superbowl?
On one hand the Colts would be good because of the midwest thing and my friend used to play for them so I could rub it in that much more, but on the other hand a recreation of Superbowl XX would be cool also. Tough choice, I guess we will see.
<sniff>
Ok, Go Pats!
<I am from New England, after all>
and then, regardless who wins the next game, I'll be cheering for <da Bears>
Congratulations to the Bears for a convincing win. Amongst the group of us who picked, only Lion and Ms Cowdoc had Chicago playing in and winning this weekend. Alas, they both had San Diego as the victor in the Super Bowl.
So where are we? Well, Chiso was the only one of us who thought Indy would still be alive. But he thought New Orleans would win in the end. So he is out regardless of the outcome of the game this evening.
That leaves Region, Jespah and George as the only players still with a chance. The three of them have the Patriots to win tonight and in the Superbowl.
Oh, my. No pressure. I do hear cheering from downstairs and I suspect it has nothing to do with the stuff I baked this afternoon.

Well Lion has been number 1 in my book since he bought us drinks last May and I knew Mrs. Cowdoc had some Chicago rubbed off on her at BLUES last year, unfortunately Cope didn't have the same revelation and therefore made a bad pick.
And now for everybodys enjoyment I shall now sing.
>Off key and with a drunken slur Sublime sings<
We're the Bears Shufflin' Crew.
Shufflin' on down, doin' it for you.
We're so bad we know we're good.
Blowin' your mind like we knew we would.
You know we're just struttin' for fun
Struttin' our stuff for everyone.
We're not here to start no trouble.
We're just here to do the Super Bowl Shuffle.
Congrats on the victory, sublime. I certainly didn't expect the Bears to play that kind of defense, but, actually, I was quite pleased to see them emerge victorious. I just didn't like this "American's darlings" crap being bestowed upon the Saints, and I am not a big fan of Reggie Bush.
So, once again, congratulations, and pass the same message along to wandel.
Thanks Gus, the Monsters of the Midway certainly made their presence known tonight. One more game to go.
You get to pick the time and place, Sublime. I've got the blue...
Even I from my nontv view could tell the Bears had a terrific defense.
Go Pates...
(I've only won one game, schniff, gathering courage to face next year...)
Uh, oh, maybe my saying Go Pates could hurt them.
Congrats Bears........they deserve it after 21 years
I'm a Pats fan, so I was disappointed in tonight's outcome. It would have been nice to see Bears and Patriots revisited after the kicking we got 21 years ago.....
Oh well, it was an incredible game tonight anyway
I remain a consistent idiot re my choices.
I'll have to go to idiot repair school.
I missed that second game, dammit. It looked bad at the beginning (for the Colts) and I was a little groggy, so I took a nap and when I woke up I discovered I had missed "a game for the ages".
Bummer that I missed it but I'm happy for Dungy.

Thanks, Gus! You are a good sport!
For those of us not in contention for the Super Bowl Ring after the play-off picking thing (a roster that includes ALL of us), we have one final round. Please pick the winner of the Super Bowl and the total number of points that will be scored. You may, if you are so inclined, predict the final score.
I am going with Indy 34 and Chicago 27 for a total of 61.
It should be a good game between the two mid-western teams. Peyton Manning is a fine, even great, QB, but he has never been on a Super Bowl winner. And the Bears are an awesome defensive team. There is an old adage that a good defense beats a good offense, but I am still going with the Colts.
This year, finally, marks the first time that a black head coach will be in the Super Bowl. In fact, both of the head coaches are black. 70% of the players are black but only 6 of the 32 head coaches are. The Steelers pick today makes 7.
And before yall wander away and Super Bowl 41 (?) (or XVI for you Latin speakers) becomes ancient history, there is this.
I took over managing this A2K NFL thing two and a half seasons ago. I knew very little about football and, quite frankly, I still don't watch games all that much. The frenetic announcers and the endless commercials drive me crazy. Not my idea of an enjoyable Sunday.
I love playing games and I enjoy running things. So, after the original moderator dropped out, I began running it. We had all of six players. Last season we had 12. And this season we had as many as 19 at one point. I have had a hell of a good time doing this.
But enough is enough. As I have mentioned earlier, I will be retiring as the moderator here. It has gotten to be a bit too time consuming. More inportantly, I think it is time for a fresh voice in this chair. My style of writing and my attempts at wit are probably getting stale. I am confident that someone else can do better.
Again, thank you for yall's participation and for putting up with my nagging when you deserved it. -johnboy-
