Terrific !
Joe(brrrrrr)Nation
Thanks for posting that cjhsa.
I'll put all that into practice.....next time I fall into a frozen river over here.
Seriously though an Aussie tourist would be just the one to show this to. Thats a scenario that would be completely outside any experience that an Aussie would have ever thought about.
Excellent info cjhsa!
Talk about sacrifice for the common good!!!
You are all very welcome and I hope you never have to use it.
Hopefully this becomes relevant at some point this winter. January and no ice in sight...
Had to fish one of the dogs out of near-freezing water a couple of years ago. Wasn't any fun for either one of us.
Yeah, at least there was ice last year. We were out on it when it started talking to us - early break up I think. We got off in a hurry, even though it was 26 degrees outside.
We had about a week of ice thick enough for the nuttier fishermen to go out on after that cold snap in November, but that went away quick, and about a week after it started I saw the rescue units out. Old-timer drinking brandy or frat boy on beer would be my guess...
I went through the ice once and survived for two hours until my cries for help were heard by a passerby. He pointed out the fact that the water was only ankle-deep and I sheepishly stepped out of the hole and went on my way.
