Why wouldnt CNN show the whole video?
I don't really understand all the surprise at the media coverage of Saddam's execution.
We are inundated every day in this country with examples of crass, over-the-line insensitivity, much of it considered entertainment. When the whole concept of "bad taste" has been consistently ignored on a daily basis, how can the tabloid-esque coverage of Saddam's execution really be a surprise?
When you are gleefully throwing garbage around every day, and someone comes along and throws a particularly big piece onto the pile, it seems a little ridiculous to suddenly raise your eyebrows, hold you hanky to your nose, and complain about the stench.
I don't like the idea of exploiting or celebrating an unfortuante event (however necessary) any more than the next person.
But having said that, I also realize there are times when the villagers actually do torch the right monster.
