thanks for the link to the video, mesquite.

a quote from the pentagon chaplain; col. ralph benson.

"christian embassy are a blessing...are interceding for people from all over the united states. talking to ambassadors. talking to people in congress, in the pentagon. being able to share a message of jesus christ in a very, very important time in our world. as we're fighting a world wide war on terrorism, what more do we need than christian people leading us, guiding us? so they're needed in this hour."

holy handmaiden's tale, batman!

i wonder if c.e. is a beneficiary of the faith based initiatives?

Not much interest in this topic for some reason.

DTOM,
If the Christian Embassy is not a beneficiary of the faith based initiative I would be extremely surprised.

Quote:
Featured in the video are four generals and three colonels, including Maj. Gen. Jack Catton Jr., who is on active duty at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. Catton was investigated by the Air Force last spring after he sent an e-mail from his work account urging Air Force Academy graduates to contribute to a Republican candidate for Congress.

Catton's spokeswoman said that investigation resulted in administrative actions that have not been made public. Catton declined to comment about the video.

In the video, Catton said the Christian Embassy helped inspire Christian faith throughout the Pentagon: "I think it's a huge impact because you have many men and women who are seeking God's counsel and wisdom as we advise the chairman (of the Joint Chiefs of Staff) and the secretary of defense. Hallelujah."

The Christian Embassy was founded by Bill Bright, who also founded Campus Crusade for Christ International. The group hosts a prayer breakfast each Wednesday in the Pentagon's executive dining room, featuring speakers on "how to integrate faith, personal beliefs and work."

The group also sponsors weekly meetings throughout the Pentagon in which "staffers share and sharpen one another in their quest to bridge the gap between faith and work," according to the group's Web site.

With advisors such as Catton, much is explained. Hallelujah

If this video is an example of their instruction about "how to integrate faith, personal beliefs and work", That also explains a lot.

strangely enough, and in spite of much evidence to the contrary, i don't think that the majority of non-evangelicals really believe that there is a concerted effort by radical christians to take over the government and see the u.s. become a "christian republic".

when my wife and i first got together back in the '80s, i was pointing out to her that i believed that people like falwell, jones, dobson, terry, the crouches were "dangerous". she thought i was nuts, or at least still p.o.ed about all the hot stinkin' summers i had to sit in a cinderblock baptist church (NO A.C. !!) in a wool suit growing up in the south. and that did suck. but it's the way that most people in the south choose to live in that area, so i left. fine by me.

several years ago, she finally admitted that there was more than meets the eye with that bunch.

bushie doesn't even pretend to be balanced about it and has ignored direction from the constitution as he pleases to push his religious agenda..

so yeah, i'd be surprised if the c.e. wasn't wetting it's beak at the faith based birdbath.

On Monday, Weinstein held a press conference in Washington, D.C., to announce that he was asking the Department of Defense's inspector general to look into the video, and determine whether the people who appeared in it -- Air Force Maj. Gen. Jack J. Catton Jr.; Army Brig. Gen. Vince Brooks, the former public affairs director of the Army; and Undersecretary of the Army Pete Geren -- had violated military regulations. He also filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the government to find out who, if anyone, had approved the video shoot....

My response is I've given the new secretary of defense 20 days to answer the Freedom of Information Act request, which the law gives him, and at the end we intend to get as much information as we can, fashion it into a dagger and then stab at the heart of this unconstitutional, wretched, vile, darkness at the Pentagon.

I suspect we may be hearing more about this come first of the year.

Well, I think we have to at least grant Baldimo kudos for his fluid creativity in language. "Exspouse" is an exciting new verb that I think holds clear promise. I predict we'll see it flourish in the Guiliani campaign.

I do agree that there is a covert, highly financed attempt to Christianize the USA. The rabid born againers, led by GWB, want to return back to the late eighteenth century when legal abortion, gay people, the ability to escape a brutal or oppressive marriage and the right to live according to one's own life style did not exist. Let's be clear- The born againers want nothing more than to marginalize anyone who is not Christian.
That will not fly under our Constitution.
