I dunno, I can't say for sure unless I had seen this hug. Who knows it anyone else would have view this as inappropriate.
I've had little kids give me hugs where they snuggle down into you, like burrowing in to really get enveloped. That's what a hug is all about. In grownups I think is generally produces a protective response of holding them even more. It's a win/win encounter.
Playing devils advocate here...some people are big and plushy, they are the best people to get hugs from, because there's so much to hug and be hugged by. A 4 year old, male or female, is so small compared to an adult, a hug represents not just affection and attention, but safety as well.
I'd like to hear of aides complete description of this.
