@rosborne979,
Quote:
There is no evidential necessity for the existence of God.

Obviously, for those who rely solely on instruments for their evidence. The evidence the statement itself provides is sufficient for logical purposes because it could not exist without the concept. God is necessary to make the statement.

Or, at least, the contemplation of the existence of God. Which only makes sense if the existence of God is allowed for. An intelligent person does not contemplate things which he is not allowing the existence of. According to Henry Fielding at least.

Then it's Pascal.

And history shows that God/s are a necessity just as the trees having bark is a necessary destiny. Temporary experiments by left-wing dingbats notwithstanding.

What you lot want is a God who approves of wanking, pre-marital sex, perversion, pornography, adultery, divorce, homosexuality, abortion and other forms of birth control.

And you're quite well on in finding such a God.

Isn't it an obvious condition of Godness that there is no scientific evidence. If there was you're all blown out of the water.

This joker's copyright date, 1985, means that it's basically "pre-ID." According to Wikipedia, the ID movement got off the ground with a 1984 publication, but i doubt that this screed was whipped up in such a short period of time.

Not that this constitutes proof but I thought it was kind of neat introduction to the evolution of feathers for young school kids. Courtesy of TEDeD

I had seen this story on TV. The link above is for members only to read. I don't need no stinking membership. The story is bound to be available elsewhere.

@edgarblythe,
What most people miss is the simple fact that most animal life forms have the same senses with different degrees of ability and biology.

This planet at 4.5 billion years old is still pretty young compared to our neighbors, and life forms on this planet are even younger than that.

Evolution and geology pretty much provides us with enough information to understand that humans are even younger, and many animals that once lived on this planet have been long gone.

What's so difficult to understand that religions are part and parcel of the human psyche. Gods and mythology were common long before the jesus god came upon the human scenery. The real question for humans is "are there thousands of gods or no gods?"

Why is the christian god the only true god?

Comic relief perhaps? They certainly seem like pisstakes of creationism.

@Setanta,
Of the comments following the article, I saw this

When Homo erectus, Homo rudolfensis and Homo habilis et al are recognized formally as one species, not a half dozen, that's more than a footnote. But it demonstrates that good Science is never (supposed to be) satisfied that we have everything "right", especially in Paleontology.

Guys, guys, you're so oldfashioned and fundy in your thinking!
Jesus said he existed since before the world began (John 17:24), so that means he was on hand to cuddle baby dinos when they needed it most..Smile

Religion's got zilch to do with it, try thinking of "God" simply as a "Master Geneticist" who wrote the Creation/Evolution Program/ Genesis Project, then snapped his fingers to start it, THAT was the Big Bang..Smile
After that, he's been tweaking it at intervals ever since to keep it on course like JC said-"My Father is always working" (John 5:17), there ya go..Smile

Maybe atheists think God has no purpose for them? Think again!
He programmed them into his Creation/Evolution/Big Bang Program, hit the Run button and said "Go! Go!"..Smile

@Romeo Fabulini,
You are pretty stupid, aren't you? Repetition of imagined gods doesn't make them real.

What evidence do you have that your god exists other than your fantasy that "he created everything." Who created god? I'll give you one guess.
