Gawd you A2K lefties are gullible. And so out of touch with the cycles of nature and of life. I've said it repeatedly, get off you butt and go hunting.

I recently went to a farming conference that had farmers from all over this country. They are of all political spectrums and educations, plus I'm sure many of them hunt. One of the most well attended talks was on global warming and how it is effecting farming. At one point the speaker asked if anyone thought humans were not a cause - out of approx. 250 in the room only 3 people raised their hands to say they thought it was "an act of god or normal nature". Everyone else had seen the science and agreed that our activities are causing the problem. It has been going on since humans started to clear the forests to make way for crops, we have just speeded it up with our fossil fuel consumption.

Both my husband and I are environmentalists, my husband has a Phd. in the subject and knows how to read the data. We know people directly involved in studying this problem. We see first hand what is going on with our forests and fields. I know I can't convince you of anything cjhsa, but if you were to look at the real data instead of what the Trinity Network is preaching you might learn something.

You might think us all "Chicken Littles", but at least we are not ostriches with our heads in the sand. Now if we could only get Bush to get his head out of his ass....

Don't you know that global warming is all a leftist conspiracy? Conservatives will still be denying it when trees are spontaneously combusting.

Dude, trees have been spontaneously combusting for millions of years, it goes in cycles. It's just those damn liberal scientists won't tell you that, oh nooo.

My comment: This further shows the divide in thinking between socialist countries and those that practice true capitalism. What a bunch of sheeple. "Oh Government, protect me from myself." And to think we think of them as allies...

Congratulations to the 68% of Germans, French, citizens of the UK, Italians and Spaniards who indicated that they'd they'd be willing to change their personal habits for the good of the planet.

This is very heartening indeed. Very Happy

If only everyone thought like this!

Thank you for disqualifying yourself from the discussion. Next.

Who else would like to step up and bash me and the USA for steadfastly believing that "global warming" is just another steaming load dreamed up by leftists intent upon destroying the US and its allies? I mean, all of our heavy manufacturing capabilities left the country because of you folks long ago, but that didn't stop anything, it just moved someplace else. After the economy recovered, you folks had to dream something else up to get back in the groove.

We basically only have 100 years of good data. You can take all the ice core samples you want but anything beyond that is pretty much junk science. Guesswork.

One bad sunspot day is just as capable of changing our climate as 10,000 or more years of human activity. Disprove me.

Then you are also disqualified from the discussion. There was just some eco-freak conference down under and Al Gore called Oz "Bonnie" to the USA's "Clyde" as global warming "villians".

Geeze, yer as bad as Snood . . . yer not supposed to tell him we only live to follow him around and attack him . . .

Very sensible response, GW, and sadly, you're correct in the assumption that Cjhsa and the Shrub would rather live in a fantasy world than face facts.

There are certainly those here that do. I'm doing my best to bust them out of their sad little liberal bubble worlds, but it's a tough job.

Yes, you wrote that the benefits of recycling aren't as great as many people think. That is an objection.

No, it's a statement of fact and a great talking point. Ever run a foundry? Scrapyard? Machine shop? I doubt it. I'd be willing to bet your experience in recycling ends at the curb.

Don't bet too damned much. I've scrapped metal as casual labor for extra cash for years, and for many years worked in a business which was required to provide, among much other documentation, environmental impact statements in order to complete government contract requirements. I've also long recycled in situations in which that involved an extraordinary effort, because even living in cities of a half million or more, people in the United States don't commonly recycle.

It is hilarious, though, to see you so commonly display your ignorance, and then accuse others of a failing which is so signally yours.

I disagree. Here in Detroit, they steal guardrails and people's aluminum siding right off their houses. Displaying ignorance? Who?

Cjhsa, why don't you take a trip to Alaska and see the results of global warming for yourself? Maybe you can bash as few baby seals on the head while you're there.
