Highly doubt it. Is there a 1-800# on the back of your insurance card?

I ask because you can call the 1800# and ask them what they cover and what they do not. Different companies cover different things but I've never heard of insurance covering the cost of an abortion.
Maybe the clinic that she is receiving treatment from will know the answer to this question.

She's probably not covered under your policy, regardless of what type of procedure it is. But ask the company, better for them to tell you no outright, than for you to just assume if there's even a slight chance that the answer could be yes.

The only way that the insurance company would pay for the abortion (that is if the policy covers abortions), were if you were the niece's guardian, she was below the cut off age, and she were listed under your family policy.
To attempt to get the insurance company to pay for anyone anyone who is not on your policy is fraud.

oh gee, I wonder why someone would want to know the 800 number of their insurance company?
oh...no special reason, just making conversation.

My second cousin has a great-niece in omaha with an ingrown toenail.
Would my step-daughters insurance cover her?

From unexplained experience, no, insurance companies wont cover what they consider an elective procedure.

really?!
that's really cool...I'll bet if a head dropped on your foot it could give you an ingrown toenail.
is that with or without the blood in it?

Crap, don't ask follow-up questions, that's all I know-- the kid in Jerry Maguire didn't add anything else...

Your niece should go to Planned Parenthood, and discuss money options
with them.
However, your niece didn't get pregnant through artificial insemination,
where is the "father to be" and his responsibility to chip in?
