Adding another to my list:

The smell of a kosher deli. Poifume. They should put it in a bottle and sell it.

Kosher delis! I have to thank you both, 'Boita and Phoenix, for reminding me of a kosher deli experience some 30 or more years ago. There was a deli on Broadway, somewhere between 101st and 102d Streets, that was so kosher they wouldn't give you cream with your coffee if you were having a meat sandwich. Milchedich and fleischedich, you know. I remember the one time I went in there and ordered a corned beef on rye and a cup of joe. The counterman started apologizing profusely that he couldn't give me cream for my coffee. He was very relieved when I told him I always drink my coffee black. Smile

Andy, You reminded me of the first time I went to a deli that wasn't kosher. (I was an adult.) Nearly fainted when I saw cheese on the menu. And the smell wasn't the same. You need a kosher deli for that smell.

Phoenix, I make chopped liver to die for. Have my grandma's old wooden chopping bowl and my mother's chopper.

Phoenix, You're more than a mile away, but if you start walking, I'll start chopping. Very Happy

Ah, details, details! Very Happy

Seriously though, I did find a place in Tampa that sells great chopped liver. It is about 45 minutes from me, I will sometimes go (and take along a cooler to bring home the brisket and the corned beef). Problem is, the smell of cheeseburgers lessens the experience for me!

For those in the area, who love really good New York style deli:
