Quite a tightrope but...having high achievers and rivalry between siblings brings a whole new set of challenges. Good luck.

Hi, again, eoe!
As you see, I'm getting zilch done today.
We get T-Day and the Friday after as holidays.
So I'm taking three "floating holidays" Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday,
giving me next week off!
Today's motivation level is in the toilet.

George--

How did the interview go?

It went well. At the start she asked Nigel whether he was half-Asian. He is.
So is she. She said he reminded her of her brother. That connection
relaxed him a bit. It went for longer than he expected and the conversation
seemed to flow pretty easily.

He's walking around with the air of someone whose shoulders have been
relieved of a substantial weight.

I didn't see this before my "WMYST" vignette... oh yeah!!! I thought I was confused and the game must be today rather than tomorrow because everyone was wearing full regalia today -- a sea of gray and scarlet dotted with buckeye necklaces. (I'm a terrible Buckeye, I own absolutely no paraphernalia yet. If they lose tomorrow I bet I'll be able to get a whole lot cheap... heh...)

Anyway, it's pretty fun, I haven't had time to watch any games yet this year so feel pretty fair-weather about it but am going to try to watch tomorrow.

Hope the interview went well...!

George--

Good.

Not all dragons have claws and scales. Not all dragons breath fire.

Some dragons die very quietly.

That sounds promising!

Yes and it will make the coming applications and interviews that much easier.
I'm glad I never had to go through any of this.

Hey Soz,
In a box at the top of today's Boston Globe:
"TWO BIG GAMES IN SPORTS
HARVARD/YALE | BC/MARYLAND"

I'll bet neither of those gets much ink in The Daily Dogpatch!

How long does he have to wait before he hears something more definitive, George?

Hi George, Good luck on Nigel's apps. He'll probably do fine, but parents are supposed to worry.

Every time I see this topic, I think of this song by XTC:

Quote:
We're only making plans for Nigel
We only want what's best for him
Were only making plans for Nigel
Nigel just needs this helping hand

And if young Nigel says he's happy
He must be happy
He must be happy in his work

We're only making plans for Nigel
He has his future in a British Steel
We're only making plans for Nigel
Nigel's whole future is as good as sealed

And if young Nigel says he's happy
He must be happy
He must be happy in his work

Nigel is not outspoken
But he likes to speak
And loves to be spoken to
Nigel is happy in his work
We're only making plans for Nigel

I love it!
(My original plans for Nigel were to board him at Our Lady Queen of Peace
Military Academy, but that didn't work out.)

He crawled out of the laundry basket, down the church steps and thumbed a ride home?

Okay, George, what am I missing here? Our Lady Queen of Peace Military Academy sounds like an oxymoron.
