I have a nervous habit that turned evil on me.
When I'm really scared or nervous I scratch my arm. Normally it's just a little redness and it goes away, but I really freaked out yesterday and scratched a bit too much, a bit too hard.
So now there's this patch of raw skin on my forearm. I still have a few flakes of skin around it though I did try to clean it. It's a darkish brown color and outline in red, which I suppose represents irritation.
It's about an inch and a half thick and three or four inches long.
I'm wondering if anyone knows the best way to treat it. i put some ointment on it, but other than that I don't know what to do. It's a little over 24 hours old and has just seemed to get worse. It hurts even when I'm not touching it or rubbing it against anything.
So, please, I would appreciate any help on how to help this scar heal.

Sounds more like an infection in need of professional help, to me.
If it's getting worse, get it looked at. An infection that can be dealt with easily early on may become a serious pain in the ass (or worse) if left unchecked.
