I have been cutting roses once a week for a bouquet. The roses are really beautiful this year, and they seem to last a long time even when cut. I've got about 50 rose bushes to cut from, so a dozen cut is hardly missed.

I love my little garden right now. All just awakening. The trillium unfurled, the scillia aglow, the virginia bluebells looking like some sort of salad. Stuff is coming back! Stuff is blooming! Maybe I'll borrow my housemate's digital camera tomorrow.....

Hey, littlek, as long as you're here... I noticed on the book thread that you were reading "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time." I have just finished it. Quite entertaining. How'd you like it?

You can make the answer brief, because these people will want to get back to their gardening questions.

Your garden needs to be "weeded", Joanne.

Got a guy coming to mow my lawn tomorrow afternoon. I can't wait. Right now I've got the scrappiest yard in the street. And it's a long street.

I planted five of the 50 rosebushes. Some of them are really old.

I like that sentence, littlek. It has a certain "Blazing Saddles" ring to it...

"Mongo took picture"

What this has to do with gardening I have no idea.

Gus, if it didn't take so long to post an edit, I would have fixed it.

Filled my usual tub this weekend and put in some different plants

Platycodon 'Fuji Blue'

http://canningperennials.com/acatalog/Platycodon_grandiflora.jpg

actually that site has a wonderful page for perennials and types, etc. to help guide you in decisions.

I also put in a couple of Dahlias, and some other plant that I cant think of at the moment. Like HELICHRYSUM but, not sure.

Keep your fingers crossed it doesnt go the way it did last year with some groundhog or other varmit eating them up and me going to my usual stand by of impatients..not that thats a bad thing.

Coming along. Planted veggies about two weeks ago, now planting flowers in containers. And waiting for the ones I ordered from White Farms, per ehbeth's suggestion. Or was it littleK? Rolling Eyes
The weather has been beautiful.

How is my garden looking today? Awful. Just awful. I'm so depressed. The weeds are rampant, everything's kind of raggedy, and I just can't get motivated... we're leaving in a matter of months! It will drive me insane soon enough, then I'll jump to. Actually, planting the annuals should help. They pretty things up but quick.
