@LotsToLearn,
Have you considered contacting garden centers in Lubbock to see if they are hiring?

Perhaps going on craigslist for Lubbock and look at all the part time jobs there?

@LotsToLearn,
Good luck, jobs dealing directly with plants are pretty difficult to come by and generally don't pay very well.

@LotsToLearn,
I know they have Home Depot....

It was kind of a big deal when they were building it.

@DrewDad,
I'm a 25 year specifier of plants (landscape architect, retired) and the last place I'd advise going to for serious information is Home Depot. I have bought plants there and I don't blame the staff, and some of them know some stuff. But for a botany related job, meh.

Are there any smaller store type garden purveyors in your area? Some of the people who start that kind of place know what they are talking about, in my experience.
Not all of course, but check them out.

I was poking fun at Lubbock, not offering serious advice.

@DrewDad,
In truth, though, Texas Tech and Texas A&M do a lot of research regarding cotton cultivation in the Lubbock area.
