Oh wow, satt! Very Happy

Any chance of a wide shot? I'd love to get a broader picture of your garden! All you own work?

CI..
No, but if they look artificial I must check out some settings of my camera. It's still new and I haven't mastered patterns of its behavior fully. Cool

Your camera is just fine; you have good depth of field.

This is a picture I tried to get some depth of field, but wasn't too successful. However, I liked the fact that the primary object came out darker than the background of Rio. What do you think?

BTW, I took this picture, because I didn't know what kind of fruit or plant it was.

Satt and CI, have you read your manuals? You have many settings beyond AUTO which can help you get the effects you want to get. If CI took his rio shot in LANDSCAPE mode, the background would have been in better focus, but he may have lost the contrast (light background/dark forground). That contrast comes from backlighting, by the way.

If you use PORTRAIT mode, you'll have a shallower depth of field. It's good for having one flower ina garden scene in focus and the background more unfocused. Or for taking a people-portrait with the same effect.

Sorry if this is al old hat to both of you.

Now, about that fruit......

I just came in from transplanting my daylilies from California yet again, this time onto the back terrace (they'd been next to the juniper that was cut down..) along with some tomato plants I couldn't resist, and two basil plants. I did nothing at all to the soil - I think the daylilies will survive unless they burn to a crisp, and the others are loss-leaders. The daylilies were growing even in a bucket of water in my kitchen, so I am hoping they struggle along for a bit.

I plan to remove a lot of soil and add a lot of amendments over time, but not this week.

The "garden", our roof balcony, looks not too good .... and it will even worse until I'll return from the USA and replant a bit

And since we are about three weeks late here in nature, the view from our living room's window (in the park) really is like early March

... as well as that from the kitchen/sleeping room side
