"Think it will be a cold winter? Now you can bet on it ... on the stock market

All the money in the world can't stop the bone-chilling cold of Winnipeg in February, or the stifling heat of Toronto in July.
But starting next month, investors on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange will at least be able to buy a metaphoric parka or sunscreen to shelter themselves from the unpredictable weather in these and four other Canadian cities.
The CME announced Monday that starting Nov. 6, it will trade weather futures and options for Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary. The contracts will allow investors to place or take bets on whether these cities will have warmer-than-average or colder-than-average temperatures in any given month or season (seasonal contracts will range from two to six months).
