* In Cleveland, OH it's illegal to catch mice without a hunting license.

* The phrase, "the whole nine yards", probably refers to WWII fighter planes returning to base after firing all their ammo. The belts holding the ammo were each 27 feet long - so nine yards.

* The "Rule of Thumb" probably started in Olde England - where it was law that a man could only beat his wife with a stick no bigger than his thumb. Shocked

* The name "Jeep" came from WWII GI's refering to the "General Purpose Vehicle (GP)"

Don't mean to rain your parade, old friend, but that one has been thoroughly descredited as 'folk etymology' by every 20th century linguist worthy of his/her PhD. Search the old law books all you will, you won't find that there ever was such a law or even such a custom in old England. The term 'rule of thumb' most likely originated among builders who knew that their thumb was roughly equal to three inches or a little less, the measure from elbow to fingertips roughly a yard and so on. Rule of thumb meant you didn't have your handy-dandy tape measure handy, but could still estimate where the nails shoul go.

Dan, i received a prompt from isp and upgraded explorer. Haven't yelled 'yikes' once yet! So far so good!

Haven't quite figured out the add-on disabler/enabler feature yet. What happens if the features enabled?

Stradee, there are many new things I haven't seen yet on IE7 - but, so far am happy with it.

Go to the new IE7 tool bar (the one with the "favorites" star) and on the right side you will see "Tools" and to the right of that some doubled pointers. Click on the pointers - then click on Help - then you have a choice of (Contents/Index) and/or (Internet Explorer Tour)

Both are very informative and there is a "search mode" line you can directly access information from.

Hope this helps.

There are other ways - such as click on the little arrow next to Tools and from the menu select "Menu Bar" - That will give you a selection of choices that were available at the top of the old IE6 browser. After selection you may go back and unclick by clicking on the same "Menu Bar" - and the little sucker will disappear once more.

I think the place to start is the IE7 Tour..... Very Happy

Dan, today working with new IE a lot easier. I'm glad i upgraded! Lots of cool features, and webpages are so much better for viewing. Darker text, lots of animation that i wasn't able to see when the isp dial connect was slow from the older version of Explorer. Doesn't seem to be a prob now. Faster page connect, etc.

There was only one upgrade where specs wearn't compatable with my computer - just one though, and i can still connect from desktop. That was the only minus from the IE upgrade.

Weather still warm, although a lot breezier. Leafs falling all over the place, and today when i arrived home, Clem n' pal were resting on the lawns, and i was able to take a photo from an open window and the deer didn't run! They just sat there looking right at the camera lens! Very Happy

OMG! Clem's gonna have a baby! She's been resting in the sunshine on the lawn, each day, every day! Course, the oats and alfalfa may have something to do with the fact she's not the least bit afraid - that and we chat - i speak fluent deer - and now Clems outta the rutt and inta motherhood!

Auntie Stradee will keep ya all posted.
