Here in the midwest, whenever we have a big celebration, we roast a pig. You're all invited!

are you familiar with any other cultures and religions?

the reason i ask is, i have a pretty limitless interest in religious customs and ceremonies, as long as it's in the context of comparing two things. i'll get around to studying islam, most likely, but if you know any other holidays or beliefs that remind you of islam or ramadan, i'd love to hear about them at your earliest convenience.

Isn't Lent kinda similar as an idea? there's no fasting per se, but giving up things for a month... Also the Jewish fast every now and then - one day at a time- but idea is the same. Of course, I only have a murky idea at best, being a heathen and all...

cjhsa, you'd be very lonely at your pig roast if you wanted to host devout religious people of ANY sort - the Bible speaks of pork as unholy, and many kinds of Christians, as well as Jews, do not eat it.

I know many Jews, Baptists, Mennonites, and Pentecoastals who don't eat it.

You mean, like folks with kids in the armed forces fighting terrorists overseas? Yeah, my problem is the liberal scum that infects this website.

Directly from that page:

"We support the men and women in uniform who serve Bravely and Honorably in
the fight against Islamo-Fascism. Thank you, YOU ARE ALL HEROES! Semper Fi "

You have a problem with that?

Yes, it's silly nonsense.

And these Blackwater goons who recently shot up a marketplace, were they "serving bravely and honorably"?

No, they were not even serving sensibly. They were strengthening the hand of "islamo-fascism".

Wow. Semper Fi is pure nonsense huh?

And why don't you ask a Marine about Blackwater? Please post the response.

Hey this tit-for-tat nonsense is misplaced on the thread entitled "The Holy Month of Ramadan".

Show a bit of respect for the beliefs of others, the same as you would wish for your own.

There are other threads to argue these views.

I didn't do any such thing Dag...

I just invited everyone to a good old fashioned midwestern pig roast. It's what we do.

Seems a bit rich coming from you, McT ... what with your propensity to stir the poo over at the Bush Supporters thread. No?
