Seems like Sarah is a wise and perceptive woman. She saw Peter for the putz he is. He seemed a bit surprised when she said he lacked warmth. I'm sorry she's gone, but not sorry to see Peter go.
That was the understatement of show. Lacked warmth - lacked almost every positive human attribute in my opinion. Sarah was generous in what she said - He is strong, competitive, but is not kind. The guy's an a$$. He is cruel in his comments and a wimp to boot. Not strong in the least - again Sarah had to do the physical challenge. Notice he stated this is you Sarah. Then he loses it because she couldn't read the map correctly! Perhaps he should try to contribute a bit to the race rather than just sit back and drive. And to top it off - she carried the entire puzzle herself - he didn't help her! Was he afraid he would break a nail? Any way Sarah did handle herself very well - she basically stated she had no further interest in him without being cruel.
I loved loved loved that the coalminer/wife came in first - how wonderful for them and the prize they received - how great. They probably never had or would ever had an opportunity to be pampered and have such a great vacation. And I love those boys - however, I fear that them being so thoughtful will cause them to lose in the long run.

I wish that they would award a prize each week for the most helpful, kind or thoughtful team, but I guess that would alter the cutthroat dynamic.

We all share the same concern that Edwin and Godwin will lose because they're so nice, thoughtful, helpful, and decent--not attributes that go a long way on these kinds of shows. I often think that producers deliberately select people who are jerks just for ratings. The thing I don't understand is why such people draw the ratings, if, in fact, they do. Can't think of a"reality" show of this kind that doesn't have at least one a$$hole.
Linkat, I'm with you about the trip David and Mary won. Pampering. A nice change.

I'm wondering whether this "six-pack" approach is a good idea in a game like this. Erwin and Godwin are clearing the ones at a disadvantage in this situation. I'm also wondering whether it's a coincidence that the two times Mary and David were last were the two noneliminations. Are the producers prolonging their stay?
The guy with the short hair and the short name (Bob? Tom?) is making me very uncomfortable. This guy is nuts! The solution to a stalled car in the middle of the road is to get out and walk away? He's easily unhinged. Not the first time his behavior has made me cringe. A ticking bomb.
So the beauty queens were first.
Have the two male models ever considered looking at a map? How can they just get into the car and start driving without an idea of where they're supposed to go? Is anyone really that stoopid? I guess so.
Where do they find these people?

A bit of the nasty came over me last night when it was announced to Kentucky that it was, again, a non-elimination round. The first thought in my head was "Oh ... put them out of their misery." That would free up the Cho brothers to pull out all their stops ('cuz you know that the Bama girls are not going to keep the warm & fuzzy feeling going) and win this race.
I hope the Chos wake up -- there is co-operation and then there's suicide. Kentucky doesn't have a chance of winning, the Chos have brought them 2/3 of the way, and now they and their 6-pack are firmly in the rear. If they engineer another Kentucky 1st place, it could be their own asses on the line.
I loved the way the editors contrasted everyone's pronunciation of "Mauritius".
Seems next week will be a new twist to the game. It looked to me like the teams were going to be split up or re-partnered for a task, or something.

Well, I'm done. I see the inevitable outcome of this race like handwriting on the wall. The Barbies and the Models will be racing to the final two. Kentucky, hapless as ever, will be eliminated next time. The Chos alliance with Alabama (who I really found myself disliking last night) will collapse and one or the other will be eliminated next. The insane daters will probably make it to the final 3, but don't seem stable enough to go all the way.
I don't want it to happen. I hate to see the triumph of beautiful, soulless cutthroats over what seem like fairly decent average Joes, but I have the queasy feeling that's exactly what will happen.

Yet another needle-in-a-haystack event, and still people choose it.
Very large pile of salt. Very small salt-shaker. Do the geometry!

Sorry to see Mary and David go, especially Mary. But I'm not even a little surprised. They were hanging on by a fine thread for some time. If the Alabamas go next, the Chos might stand a chance. They won't be waiting for anyone.
Cow's lips. Mmmmmm. Especially the ones with hair. Yummy. When I was a kid, my mother would ask my grandmother to cook her something in a language other than English. My grandmother would arrive at our apartment and start cooking something that smelled not great. Hours later, my mother was presented with a cooked cow's head. Teeth and all. Barf. I usually left the table when the dish was presented. Don't remember any cow fur on the head.
The new twist was semi-interesting. It may provide some real interest in other shows. This time, two of the three pairings were foregone conclusions, so no big deal.
I liked that the fast forward was not an automatic first place. C'mon, lady. What's the matter. You can't eat some lips?
I predict that Alabama will be next to go.

I'm not really sorry to see Kentucky go, perhaps because it's been so obvious for some time. But I do admit to shedding a tear at Dave & Mary's end interview -- when they talked about the lifelong friendships that they had made, and how they wanted their kids to see the world, and how this "wasn't a new page, but a whole new book". They seemed like completely honest and deserving folk. If this contest was not theirs to win, I do hope that they win a lottery or something.
I actually found myself liking the Barbies at bit this episode. But then I'm always a sucker for those who truly enjoy the moment.
Okay! Let's see them Chos cut loose!

I was starting to dislike the Chos at the beginnning of the show - come on - you are supposed to have some sort of competitive spirit. I mean you can be nice and still be competitive - did they really have to wait for the 6-pack, please. Stop being so wimpy and fight to win rather than stay with the losers even if they are nice people.
Then when they teamed with the Barbies, you could see their competitiveness show up.

The Chos leave me mystified. What's the point of entering a race if you're more interested in making friends than competing? Linkat, I was annoyed with them too.
The Kentucky pair seemed like good people. Limited, but good. And now a lot less limited than when they started. But, Tico, if anybody around here is gonna win a lottery, it should be me!

I have taken a very strong dislike to the Barbies. Very strong. Not too thrilled with the Ken dolls either.
I'm glad to see that the Chos are no longer waiting for people, although they did help Alabama in the tunnel. And they did wait their turn in the cab line. With people like the two from Alabama, is it any wonder that we're viewed as the ugly Americans?
I sat here for a while thinking I was having a "senior moment." Couldn't remember who came in last. I was having a senior moment. Nobody came in last. They're still going. I get tired just thinking about it. Mud, tunnels, walking face first down the side of a building. Not for the weak or faint-hearted.
The coming attractions suggested that there will no longer be an alliance between the Chos and Alabama. The Chos had better step up to the plate, or they'll be gone.
Have I mentioned that I think Bob is a maniac? Certifiable? He makes me nervous.

That's so funny-- I had exactly the same "senior moment".
I like the Chos and they're definitely my favorites amongst the remaining teams, but man I got tired of their politeness! You're in a RACE! Please stop letting others go first and get a little aggressive!

I have a love/hate relationship with Chos - I love that they are nice, but I hate that they let people step over them as a result of their "niceness". I don't like any of the other pairs much. And yes that guy is a maniac.

He's-- Rob, I think-- a nut alright. But she-- Kimberly?-- seems to have developed a weird symbiotic relationship with him. I think the two of them were made for each other. I predict that unlike the gimp, she won't break up with her boyfriend after the race. 3 years from now, they'll either be married and divorced or she'll be buried under his house.

The blondies have earned my respect. They are real racers and I loved it when the one told the other to "grab the pokey thing" to open the limestone brick. I'm tired of the overly polite Cho boys, this a competition not a charity event, and they need to stop acting like they want to win the
"Miss Congeniality" award.

I personally don't really like the barbies, but like green witch said at least they are being competitive - it is a competition by the way. I do also like the fact that they are positive towards each other and encourage each other rather than bicker.

Green Witch and Linkat, I agree with you about the Barbies. Yes, they're competive, and yes they're decent toward each other. However, I don't like them. They're too aware of how wonderful they are. This makes me snarl.
The Chos are a disappointment. They're decent people. I wonder if they ever saw the show before they decided to enter the race. I hated that Alabama cut in the line for the taxi. It's one thing to behave badly to other race participants. Quite another to behave badly to people who are not involved. This race usually brings out the worst in people. So far, the Chos appear to be resisting. Can it last?
I've been watching reruns of the earlier races on the Game Show Network. This group is mild mannered, well-behaved, and all around congenial compared to earlier participants, except for Rob, who is nuts. There have, however, been nutsier racers. Where do they find these folks?
