Say "hello" in multiple languages

Reply Mon 18 Sep, 2006 08:44 am
Hello is one word we ought to know the translation of in all languages possible.

Ok, I can contribute in the language I speak, Hindi.

Namaste, though doesn't exactly imply "hello" , but that's the accepted substitute for hello in our culture.

For now, I also know...

Japanese : Kwanichi wa

French:Bon jour

Very Happy

I hope that image doesn't screw up your thread, spidergal, but I needed a place to store it and I figured this thread would be as good as any other.

I'll pick it up later.

That picture may have been better stored in the "Caption this photo" page. But it fits here as well assuming that's the way sme people say "hello".

I haven't been over to "Caption the Photo" for quite some time, Nick. I might have to pop over there one of these days.

Where exactly do the sme people live?

I wouldn't want to accidently wander onto their territory and insult them by not getting their "hello".

Thanks Gus, you're a pal. Apparently they're quite the globetrotters. In fact one might be your neighbour! See any rhinos in the next field?

Sorry, the image stretched the page too wide. I hate that. You'll just have to trust me that it was the logo for the International Sme.

No! The Germans (with the exception of Walter) say "Gruess Gott"
