Wonder how they do that. They used to have to communicate by ELF when submerged. Sounds like a significant advance in the state of the art.
I just finished my first Joe Buff novel, so the concept of a photonics mast is not entirely new to me.
That's probably how they receive E-mail as well.

PS, why are we building subs? All we have to do is wait till all the Russian ones sink themselves. Also, many of our fields of operation arent blessed with an excess of water in which to hide a submarine, so, do we like, tow it on a flatbed to KAbul?
