My first thought was - that's a dolphin! Then I thought the nose bones were too wide. I left it and then went back..... looks kinda like a dolphin (I've seen quite a few sea mammal skeletons washed up on winter beaches and into the marsh in my parents' back yard). In the right conditions, the skin becomes leathery and hangs off the bones.

plenty of variation in dolphins and porpoises head shape however the photo looks too long for this type of mammal

It looks sad.

And..it had hair, they say..so it can't be a dolphin or whale.

The site BBB links to has a ton of comments that all seem purty confident it's some type of whale. It does look a lot like an orca skellington. But they've got some even better ideas too, like perhaps it is Dick Cheney or Anna Nicole Smith or Jimmy Hoffa. (And about fifty people said it's from the Dark Crystal-- that's what I thought too.)

There is a possibility that the thing in photo was a cat. Examine the following photograph...

Do you see the similarities? It's quite startling.
