I agree however, we must never forget Lay is a personal friend of the President.
It not what you know that counts it's who you know that does.

Just so I get this straight, you are implying that Kenneth Lay has not been prosecuted because he is friends with George Bush?

Well, i've read about this in many places, and must sadly say that i've come to accept Fishin's characterization of the nature of the civil suit against Miss Stewart. I revert to my original assessment--this is a witch hunt. I had been encouraged over the last few months to think that the SEC might actually become an effective force in policing the markets. It appears that there is not part of the government, however, which the Shrub and company are not willing to subvert for the advancement of an increasingly bizarre agenda.

For someone to believe that personal friendship with Bush might insulate them is no more incredible to you than someone being totally confident that it would not insulate them is, to me. In other words, I don't think its as big a stretch as you're making it sound.

I don't think the Bush friendship is helping Kenny Boy. I can't see Bush putting his rep on the line for Kenny.

Still, I am far past impatient for this case to proceed.

(And wasn't it Kenny who called Cheney for a little help, to which Cheney replied "No can do?)

TRY THE CASE ALREADY.

I agree 100%, Sofia.

What I CAN see however is a strategically timed announcement.

In a perfect world, Ken Lay would come to trial right about the time of the Democratic National Convention, or even later in '04.

for the SEC to target Martha because she is a criminal is one thing but to target Martha because she is Martha is another. I dont think the facts are all in. There has been no charge of insider trading but there is a charge of denying insider trading. kinda curious to me.

dys, Yeah. We're supposed to be presumed innocent first. Charges do not result in guilty in all cases. c.i.

au, Martha isn't just a small fish, but she might be innocent while the others are without doubt guilty as charged. Where's the "evidence" on Martha? c.i.
