Manic Monday at Wimbledon. Federer and Williams are through, all ten top seeds in the women's half are out, Nadal is rolling, Djokovic is showing some good form.

@engineer,
It's actually the first time in the "Open Era" (50 years) that none of the top ten seed in the ladies competition reached the quarters in any Grand Slam event.

@Walter Hinteler,
Really surprised to see Halep drop, but I give to Hsieh, that was a great match and Hsieh was really able to expose Halep's lack of angles.

@engineer,
Angelique Kerber (the highest-ranked seed left in the women's competition), beats Daria Kasatkina to reach semi-finals - a really good match by both!

Federer is gone after being up by two sets, Nadal serving for the fourth after losing two of the first three.

@engineer,
Nadal completes the comeback, will face Djokovic in a semi that will feel like a final. Anderson vs Isner on the other side seems like the consolation round.

@engineer,
For all the heartburn about the upsets to the seeds on the women's side, we have Kerber-Williams in the final (a rematch of the 2016 final), two experienced slam winners both playing extremely well.

@engineer,
Isner did "the endless match" in 2010.

Will be a bit shorter today (I hope)

@Walter Hinteler,
Isner is just trying to break the record for the number of aces in a tournament. He already holds the one set and one match record for that last marathon. He's got almost 50 aces in this match so far, needed 80 to break the record.

@engineer,
He did 113 aces in that 2010 match

@Walter Hinteler,
Yes, then he lost in the next round. The overall record for the tournament is somewhere just over 200.

@engineer,
All props to Anderson, but Isner is terrible at returning.

@Walter Hinteler,
Ace record is safe for this year. I think Isner tied it but failed to break it at 213. Anderson played the better match. Are they really going to start Nadal/Djokovic this late at night?

They started late that night and had to finish the next day.

It was a cruel joke, and in the end, the Djoke was on Nadal.

And Serena lost to Kerber.

@vonny,
I saw that coming. Everyone was all "Serena is back!" and I'm a big fan, but she had a really rough pregnancy and she sailed through the draw, but it was a pretty easy draw. Kerber is a former number one, now three time slam winner and has been really on form. I don't see this as the surprise some are making it out to be.
