Things just got real.

Quote:
The identity of Doctor Who's 13th Time Lord will be revealed following the Wimbledon men's singles tennis final on Sunday, the BBC has announced.

A trailer featuring the number 13 in different locations was aired during the tennis on BBC One on Friday.

It finished with the caption: "Meet the 13th Doctor after the Wimbledon men's final, Sunday 16th July."

@izzythepush,
Pointless! Boring... boring.... boring ... 45 minutes is far too long! If you are desperate for your Pointless fix, it's repeated on at least one other channel.

Meantime, Federer plays Cilic in the final - glad they are both through.

@vonny,
It's got brilliant banter, and it's been two weeks too long. The other channels show really old ones, and they don't count.

@izzythepush,
We gave two people one keyboard ..... to argue the case for and against Pointless.

@lmur,
By the way - it's not 'Pointless' - it's 'Love'.

That's enough trolling for one morning.

@lmur,
Love and trolling or not: they only live once but have to serve twice!

@Walter Hinteler,
Whatever ... meantime - Federer won, as expected, but Cilic had an injury that hampered his performance. Sad it's all over for another year.

Surely Venus has better things to do at her age and DAMN women's tennis could use some BETTER.

Not only was Venus the oldest Wimbledon finalist in 23 years,
she apparently did it all with Sjögren’s syndrome.
She fell short this time, but Serena will be absent at the U.S. Open as well,
so Venus will have another chance to win her first major in 9 years, in New York.

@Kolyo,
Venus played some terrific tennis throughout the tournament - sad that she failed in her final match. Good luck to her in New York.

@Kolyo,
I remember she has been living with Sjogren's for a whole bunch of years now.
Back in my long ago lab days, first I had a small lab to run collagen disease tests (Sjogren's falls into that general area), and later was part of a research group. I rarely dealt with the clinic patients but they were all around...
point being that I've been interested all this time since I read she had it, on how Venus has been doing.
I'm so happy for her absolute greatness..

@ossobucotemp,
Meantime, c'mon, Fed!

(Not that I dislike Tiafoe)

Er, watching or reading about sports can be a bit of relief when one's world is going to hell in a handbasket.

@ossobucotemp,
Good for Tiafoe, and still a good effort by Fed.

@ossobucotemp,
Eek! I missed that Federer won.
So... still a good effort by Tiafoe.

I seldom get to watch a match these days,
but here's hoping Tiafoe's brilliance was the reason it went 5,
rather than a lackluster effort by Federer.

America needs a new rising star.

Finally, in Round 3, Federer wins in straight sets.

On the women's side Venus is through to the quarters, but now it gets tougher. I think she plays Kvitova next. She won't have to face Muguruza, who was crushing everyone in her path, but i remember kvitova being a big deal her own right.

Wow, did it ever. She had to break back in the final set to beat Kvitova and make the semis.
(I think she had to break back; I'm just following the scores on my phone.)

The American women are on a rampage this year.
Out of the six remaining in women's singles, four are American.
