Embarrassed I am on estrostep one month and have my period on the 23rd of month now. But my wedding is 2 months away at this time also. Can anyone recomend a way to delay or bring on my period earlier to avoid me getting my period on my wedding day.

You say your wedding is 2 months from now, meaning October 23?

Get out your calendar....You take your pills for 21 days and take the fake pill for 8

If you got your period today Aug 23....you'll get your next period Sept 20 and the one after that October 18.

Or, talk to your doctor...there's really no reason a woman has to have her period every 28 days. The inventors of BC pills scheduled it that way because they thought woman would be upset if they didn't get their monthly. Not hard to guess these were men.

Check with your physician to see if you can just take the active pills straight through for a few months, you won't get your period until the day or so after you do stop.

Now they do have bc pills that you only menstruate a few times a year, from what I understand.

Actually, I'm not sure which pill allows for this, but with the one I'm on, the Doc said I could take the colored pills consecutively for up to three months (skipping the placebos) - this cycle would cause a period once every three months. I haven't tried it yet. (my pill is called Apri).

that's right...I know there's some type you're supposed to be able to do this, however when you think about it, you would thing you should be able to do this with any bc pill, check w/ your doc of course.

I mean, the princliples the same. Your simulating pregancy so you don't menstruate, you're just doing it for longer.

An aside....this reminds me of a dream I had years ago....

I was supposed to be getting married, and wanted to plan it that so that I wasn't on my period. In the strange dream way, there was no date during the entire month that I wouldn't be bleeding or ovulating!

What a nightmare! Shocked Laughing

I just simply take a small aspirin per day, and haven't had a period in years.

...and for a simple method of contraeception, I merely pop a large pill into my left shoe and it makes me limp all day.

My doctor told me that you can't do this with estrostep. Many pills you can; estrostep isn't one of them.

I wanted to do it for vacation and she told me that I would have had to get on another pill for 3 months so that I could take it consecutivly. Also, sometimes it doesn't work 100% the first month and you still bleed a bit. So 2-3 months out is recommended.

Thanks Bella....didn't know it was different for various pills.

I've got my head up my ass about the specifics

Fabulous!

Have a great honeymoon!

Just to clarify, you'll need to take the white pills instead of the brown, so you'll go through the pills faster.

Don't want an extra gift 9 months after the wedding, do we?

Wow...

My doctor told me just the opposite. Something about the multi level hormones in them.

I hope it works out for you.

Hello. I just received my first pack of estrostep today, and would like to begin right away. However, after reading the instructions, it is recommended to take it on the first day of your period. Since i am not expecting the "monthly devil" to arrive in another week... would it be ok to start now? If so, what are the consequences? Thanks a bunch.

Estrostep
I started estrostep two months ago. I think with any pill you have to start it on the first day of your period or the sunday after the period. Whats a week to wait ??????

I went back on Estrostep after being on Yasmin for a few months.. and I skipped the brown pills this month and haven't had breakthrough bleeding. I couldn't do that with Yasmin, even though you're supposed to be able to because it's a monophasic pill (the doses of hormones don't change during the month)... but on Yasmin I would even start my period before taking the placebo pills! How ridiculous is that!

I think it just depends on the person and how their system reacts to the birth control.

I called my doctor today... the nurse told me that it's okay to do it once in awhile, but not all the time because it's just not designed for that.. if you want to do it all the time (double meaning here, ha!), then you should go on Seasonale or DepoProvera.
