Handy list here in today's SF Chronicle -
10 bottle for takeout, LINK HERE
It's true I often like beer with chinese food, for example. But, sometimes I don't feel like beer, and it's nice to know what wines won't taste terrible with various takeout foods - might even taste delicious.
I havn't read your list of take-out wines yet, Osso. But let me anticipate: any red wine for take-out Italian,
And Thunderbird for fast food take-out.
Now I'll read your list from the Chronicle.
I'd like Orange Ripple, please . . .
That's probably pretty rare, even vintage....
I don't remember Ripple being orange, thinking, thinking, what color was it, anyway?
Mmmmm, as a refreshment (not a wine proper), I'm curious about
the Australian (non-sparkling) PINK (a combo of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay).

Kind of an ugly purple . . . but they came out with Orange Ripple in the early 1970s . . .
I think my cousins gave me the purple one for Christmas once... or was that Spanada...
Lots of those sounded good to me, JL, with or without sushi..
Margo, Are all Yellowglen wines named after colours? I remember reading about their "Yellow" and that it was the most popular easy drinking wine in Australia. I've never been able to find it here (Canada) but from what you say maybe I should be grateful
Well, I thought the Pink came in a non-sparkling and sparkling versions. If it is only sparkling, I withdraw my nomination. Don't like bubbles, unless she's the stripper that Gus and Dys used to fight over.

Oh, he's probably thinking of Boone's Farm. Stuff came, and maybe still does, in lots of flavors. Strawberry Hill used to be one of the popular varieties.
Dang it! I was going to bring some down when Walter was in town, but since Diane wouldn't let me bring the Velveeta. . . .
I am at this moment enjoying horseradish jack cheese on wheat crackers with a chilled late harvest Washington State Reisling..... it''sthe tits for sure!!!!! At beditime, a glass of 20 year old Taylorfladgate tawny Port and good night nurse. Life is good occasionally....
That sounds very good indeed, Bear.
I'd add a pear and some Bavarian Blue with a nice Muskat wine.
As for chinese take-out, I would only drink plum wine with it, if it has
to be wine. Chinese or Japanese beer is a better choice.
Can you imagine a Carls Jr. juicy burger with a glass of redwine? Naaahh!
I wonder if Paris' McDonald's serves wine with its bernaise burgers. Francis?
when we met JL and mrs nobody in Patagonia he brought the take-out and we both provided. random wines, we had a really nice meal. I remember pizza and chicken, a bottle of red and a bottle of white and a lovely sunset over the lake.
Well, I'll go for sake with sushi and sashimi..
Have to go look at the article again. I'm not much of a take-out fan, but that's because I love to GO to restaurants, plus liking to cook.
CJ, I'd drink the red wine and toss the burger.. Not only are the patties lil'shitpads, but the buns are horrible. She says, whistling, herself having a softspot for BurgerKing Fish Sandwiches. Slaps self.
(let's see if my metaphor flies..)
Er, if I had Msolga's take-out places around me, I'd probably live in them, or keep a tab.
Bear, your crackers and cheese and riesling sound good to me too.
Plus, a dab-o-good-Port'll do ya.
Well, that just figures, Dys (that you guys would have a nice meal, accompanied by SallyDog.)
Oh, and Fred!
How's Fred?
edit to add for Tai Chi and others who might not know about Fred and Sally, Dys and Diane's bird and dog - who travel with them.
