Whew! Well, we did it. It was a HECTIC couple of months-- which is why I've been missing in action from these parts. I won't bore you with the continual string of last minute annoyances and tedious prep work. Suffice it to say that we were married in the backyard of our lovely home, in an arbor that I built myself, with some 70 guests in attendance and wedding vows written by ourselves. Everything went off as planned and it was the wedding of our dreams for both me and my blushing (and oh-so-lovely) bride. That first sight of her walking down the aisle took my breath away and I don't expect to get it back in this lifetime.
The food was great (courtesy of El Camino Grill, an exceptional local Mexican restaurant), the champagne punch was delicious, the music awesome and everyone had a wonderful time dancing 'til the wee hours.
Then it was off for a week long trip up the Central Coast of California for some much needed R&R. The weather and scenery were gorgeous, but it all paled in comparison to my gorgeous wife. Needless to say, we had a delightfully relaxing and fun adventure. We did wine tasting, sampled excellent local restaurants, we explored Pismo, San Luis Obispo, Monterey and Santa Barbara and returned home Sunday, exhausted and broke but VERY happy.
Now it's back to the daily grind and, with considerably more time on my hands, so be forewarned that I expect to be around as usual to provide my usual pith and wit.
Congratulations blacksmithn!
Best marriage advice I ever received:
Go out backward, so I think you're coming in.
and
Everytime you throw some dirt, you lose a little ground.
Congratulations!

The key to a successful marriage are in three little words......
""Honey, you're right."

Good things come to those who wait...
Yay! Congratulations!!!
And now, you just know I want every little detail on...
...how'd you build that arbor?
Thank you one and all. I can truly say that I am the happiest I've ever been, with many more years of the same to follow.
Although the key to happiness in our house seems to run something like this:
Following a lengthy discussion as to why her way is best...
Me: Yes, honey <smiles and nods, then stalks off muttering profanities>
Mrs. B: What did you say?!
Me: I said I LOVE you SOOOO much!!!
The trick never works of course, but it always makes her laugh and that sound never fails to brighten my day. After that, it doesn't seem to matter so much as to who is right and who is wrong.
