1. I agree with McGentrix that F4F's posts are racist and offensive.

2. I have directly confronted F4F and a couple of other "liberals" who post anti-semitic rhetoric and conspiracy theories. I now avoid these threads altogether (since they don't seem to listen). I do think it is a responsibility for true liberals to oppose the garbage coming from our side-- the same as I challenge the right for not opposing the racist views on theirs.

3. (For the benefit of Freedom4Free if he or she is open minded at all) There is a big difference between the offensive anti-semitic trash-- and legitimate political criticism of actions taken by Israel. Conspiracy theories, exagerrated historical claims and rhetoric that relies on stereotypes all cross the line.

Lol!!! Good try but no prize.

Now you are channelling another unpleasant righty on these boards.

Maybe consider growing up a little?

I was only kidding dlowan, you are one of the good guys here, you and many other good members are allowed to attack me, because you people are ALL honest and balanced members [ i could compile a big list - i even consider Setanta to be very good]. I accept that a few of my threads are bull****. Being completely honest i post these just to Piss Off the Right Laughing

Now i know it's getting a bit annoying, so will be more cautious and considerate in my future threads.

I rarely comment on McGentrix's loaded rhetoric, because I find it distasteful and as bigoted as anything he accuses others of. Mostly I scroll it. I also bypass threads by Freedom4free, because of the reasons others have given. I don't see it as my job to call somebody down most of the time, liberal or conservative, unless one of my buttons gets pushed.

Agreed. I've taken issues with liberals before, but when they just sound so totally wacked out I tend to avoid them all together. There shouldn't be a place for that when there are those attempting to have a civil discourse on a number of substantive issues.

I never disagree with any liberal, for that matter, I never disagree with any conservative. Let's face it, I just never disagree. Unlike mother superior angel, i would never agree to disagree, I find that attitude disagreeable. can you dig it?

Dear Mr Bear I keep on hand and at the ready plenty of Casillero Diablo Chilian Cabernet Sauvigon @ 58.6 degrees and breathing fresh air for 30 minutes prior to pouring. we can share the bong. (there is Portugese vinho verde chilled in the fridge for alternative tastes) as well as 4 varieties of mexican beer as well as Fat Tire Ale.

As most have pointed out there is difference in voicing objections to Israel as a government or its policies and being against jews as a whole. I think most rational people who no axes to grind recognize that difference even if they don't agree with whoever is voicing those disagreements against Israel as a country or it's policies.

There have been some posters who have displayed racist opinion towards Jews as a whole rather Israeli policy.

There has also been some posters who have displayed racist opinions towards Muslims as a group rather than disagreements about terrorism. But I forget, we can't talk about that on this thread.

Iran displays Holocaust cartoons

Quote:
More than 200 Holocaust cartoons from around the world are on display at a museum in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
Organisers of the exhibition say they are testing the West's commitment to freedom of speech.

A competition to choose the drawings was announced in February, in response caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad published by European newspapers.

Israel's Holocaust authority, Yad Vashem, criticised the exhibition, calling it a "flashing red light".

The drawings were chosen from nearly 1,200 entries received from various countries including the United States, Indonesia and Turkey.

One of the cartoons shows the Statue of Liberty holding a book on the Holocaust in one hand and giving a Nazi salute with the other.

Cartoon controversy

The Iran Cartoon Organisation and Hamshahri newspaper are putting on the exhibition.

Organiser Masoud Shojai said: "You see they allow the Prophet to be insulted. But when we talk about the Holocaust, they consider it so holy that they punish people for questioning it."

The publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad sparked protests around the world earlier this year.

One showed Muhammad, whose image is banned in Islam, as a terrorist bomber.

Yad Vashem said the display in "Iran, a nation that aspires to nuclear capabilities, and whose president has made genocidal statements against Israel, is a flashing red light signalling danger not only to Israel, but to all enlightened nations".

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad prompted international criticism last year by saying the Holocaust was a "myth" and that Israel should be "wiped off the map".

So where is the worldwide criticism of Iran for this?

These are the same Muslims who got quite upset with cartoons about Allah (or whatever) and the entire world media body was horrified. Yet, these hypocritical scumbags can print these cartoons and the world media says nothing?

I must admit that posting to piss off McG is a lot of fun.

Yes, we could learn a lot about tolerance from the conservatives. Tolerance for Syngman Rhee, tolearnce for the Shah of Iran, tolerance for Ferdinand Marcos, tolerance for Pol Pot, tolerance for Francisco Franco, tolerance for Antonio Salazar--yes we could learn tolerance for any number of tinpot dictators.

But that was in the past, what about today? We could learn tolerance from the example of the 800,000 slaughtered in Rwanda. We could learn tolerance for Tiananmen Square (that should get us blocked on the all-China firewall). We could learn to tolerate Vladimir Putin, the former KGB intelligence officer, in his war against the Chechens. Tolerance for the repressive regime of Hosne Mubarak, tolerance for the repressive regime of the Algerian junta, tolerance for the repressive regime of Pervez Musharraf--so much tolerance to learn about from conservatives.

But of course, the crux of the biscuit is that we criticize the Isreali government, which McG wants to twist into intolerance of Jews, into anti-semitism. So tell us McG, is intolerance of the Palestinians not also anti-semitism? After all, the Bedouin are Semites. How about intolerance for the Syrians--is that intolerance for Arabs? What about intolerance for Iran--is that not intolerance for Persians?

Yes, let's learn tolerance, such as the woderful example of Rummy shaking hands with Sadam Hussein with a big ****-eatin' grin on his mouth.
