Not that I'll use it for insults or anything, but exactly how vulgar this word is?
I heard it in Bridget Jonese Diary, where profanity abounds, and I read it in AustenBlog, where they usually sport style and appropriateness.
Is 'wanker' as bad as the f***, or it's milder than that?
Its milder.
Its offensive but its one of those funny offensive words, unless your the one its being aimed at.
Doesn't it mean "weenie" like a big dork. What a wanker. Sort of like saying "What a loser!" Or "What a geek!"
MG, am I right?
No problem, Im sure you can get a better answer form others here.
I sometimes use it towards friends when we humourously have an argument. Its traditionally said without pronouncing the K.
In conclusion tho I wouldnt use it unles you know th person very well or if you really want to insult someone.
Wanker is suppose to be pronounced "way-ner"?
Sorry, yep your right.
I forgot to say, as its said you can also add the charades hand motion of a man masterbating.
Wanker means masturbator, isn't it?

Correct
Often heard chanted from the crowd at football (soccer
) grounds:
"The referee's a wanker!" and calls for his white stick, which is in the long tradition of equating masturbation and failing eyesight, I suppose!
MG's right that the "k" is often replaced by a glottal stop!

Ive never heard it called that before.
I never thought id be having a conversation about the word wanker.
