I need help with an application phrase.

Here it is:

With reference to the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974:

1) I WAIVE my option to view my recommendations________.

2) I CLAIM my option to view my recommendations________.

I must place a check on EITHER 1 or 2b which one do I select?

Please, explain the meaning of choice 1 and 2 above.

Thank you

When you waive your option, you give it up; you agree not to use it. The person writing the recommendation knows you won't see it.

To claim it is to agree that you will see what was written, which the recommendation writer also will know.
