My favourite bit of graffiti comes from Ancient Rome - I heard about it on a program on Discovery, or the History channel, and I love it because it shows the more we change the more we stay the same. Apparently it reads 'Crassus has a fatty ass'. Would anyone be willing to translate this bit of trivia for me? I would be very grateful.

Well, one way to translate it would be

"Crassus culum pinguem habet"

Thanks George much appreciated. How correct is this: 'Semper in excretum, sed alta variat'?

That means: "We are always in the sh!t, only (but) the depth varies."

Sorry, I don't know any better English translation.

(But if your German is always like what you've written above - well, I'm sure my English is indeed better than your German.)
