I have troubles shopping for wine for my wife. She likes it sweet and fruity. So far her favorites have been Johannisberg Rieslings. I don't mind them sweet but they often taste to sugary (is that a word) for me. Any suggestions?
I would go with German whites, because they have the most efficient labelling system in the world. Once you know how to read the lables, you will be able to decide on an off-dry, medium sweet to extra sweet wine. Here's a nifty guide:

I should also mention that Germany is now trying to get into the world market for inexpensive and premium dry wines, and have added two new classifications for dry wines:

No wine discussion could be complete without it.
Ahh the wheel. An elaborate device to tell everyone that if it smells weird, don't drink it.
This thread has a wealth of information.
What winery was the Canadian Pacific winery?
Visited the Banff Springs Hotel and the Chateau Whistler back in 1996. They had a private label wine that the CP made at their winery. Can anyone give me the name of teh winery?
JRTexas, I remember a winery at Niagara City. You might try to find it on the web. The other option is to email the Banff Springs Hotel and ask them where they get their label wines.
