Here we go:

1. If any existed there would be no need to prove otherwise.

More will come; I don't want you to have a heart attack. Very Happy

Naahh; I like this one.

What's the matter? too difficult for ya?

"Prove"?

Last time I read it was up to those who claimed its existence to produce the evidence...

I don't believe in santa claus either... do you need "proof" of that too?

Um, err.... if you don't believe the existence of God, how do you claim He is dead? Just askin. Rolling Eyes

C'mon, Dork.

You claimed you were going to present the first reason for asserting that gods do not exist...

...and all you came up with is:

Quote:
If any existed there would be no need to prove otherwise.

That is not a reason for asserting that gods do not exist. That is simply a way of stating the atheists (you will excuse the expression) reason for making silly assumptions about gods not existing...which is always a variation on one of two absurd themes:

a) The theists cannot produce a god.

and b) There is no need for a god.

Both of those themes can be rock solid (and in fact, they are rock solid)...but not provide the slightest iota of reasoning for asserting that there are no gods.

There is absolutely no need for any sentient beings on any planets circling the 30 nearest suns to our Sol...and there is no way anyone can produce a sentient being from any of the planets circling the 30 nearest suns to our Sol...

...but neither of those items can lead to a conclusion that "therefore there are no sentient beings living on any planet circling any of the 30 nearest suns to our Sol.

C'mon, Dork...let's get to something of substance.

Unless of course, you simply have nothing of substance to substatiate your silly assertion.

Jesus! Is that your "answer"?

Can I ask you - in the nicest possible way, Frank - if you have had your mental health checked out lately? Just wonderin'

Ummm... this is just a guess... but maybe because no one has actually proven there is a "God" in existence? Seems like that would be the first step... Razz

Right, right, right Frank but let's start here for a second:

IF gods existed wouldn't they be a tiny bit more obvious?

"Sol" huh? I see that you are a hard science-fiction enthusiast.

Logic, Son...logic.

All you have here is an unsupported premise...an assertion.

I have absolutely no idea whatever whether gods would be "a tiny bit more obvious"....or completely unobvious. I suspect you don't either...but you seem compulsive about making unsubstantiated assertions...and then pretending you are somehow exempt from having to back them up.

You have asserted that gods do not exist.

I have asked you to do what you asked of the theists who assert that a god does exist...namely to produce some evidence or reasons for their blind, guesswork assertion.

So do it...produce the evidence or acknowledge that your assertion is simply baseless.

I'm probably gonna sign off here. Gotta get some sleep. I've got a very early tee time tomorrow. But I will be back tomorrow. Not that I expect anything of substance from you...but for the pure enjoyment of this discussion.

Well...I am sorry you doubt that life is fun, Joe.

It truly is.

Try easing up a bit.

Then maybe you will begin to enjoy it almost as much as I do.

Selfruled, the reason you are angering Frank is that he is gripped by a profound ambivalence. He half believes in God and he half agrees with us atheist. It really hurts sitting up on the 50-50 fence. His most profound philosophical term is "shyt."

You know intrepid is probably right about that. However, I find it distinctly charming how some of these guys act and respond to others. I think I have begun to see some of them in a whole new light lately. Maybe I'm FINALLY taking off my own "seriousness" glasses and figuring out frank is right... It is a bit more fun to pick on nincompoops sometimes. Razz It sure beats getting all worked up and frustrated over other peoples ignorance.
