I can't even read Frank's post anymore as they seem to contain nothing but insults to one or another members of this site and very little else.

Having said that I want to include this thought and it is that ignorance breeds cruelty.

I'm not as clever as some of the posters on this thread but I did do a lit degree a few years back and it is true that when you have explore novels relative to a whole continent like Africa you can't help getting a strong impression of the effects of "belief" and ignorance and how it impacts on people's behaviour.

For example, when twins were born in tribal [pre-Colonisation] Africa, they used to take them out to the woods and abandon the new-borns to die of starvation or exposure because anything out of the ordinary was regarded as a threat to them and [so they worked it out] becuase it wasn't "normal" it must be destroyed.

The invasion of Science and Christianity into Africa stopped this sort of thing [hopefully, anyway] so do we agree that sometimes belief for its own sake is not necessarily a good thing.

However, belief that doesn't go around criticising others and rather helps somebody to believe that a loved one is waiting to be reunited with them beyond the grave is quite nice, don't you think?

Oh, and for Frank I have one word:

Dork

Laughing No doubt your playground insults will recommence very soon.

Self-ruled I think you have the patience of a saint.

If you can't handle a few insults, what would be the fun of it?

BTW; What ever happened to this?

Speaking of insults, I wish to apologize to Frank before the entire board for whatever comments I made which brought embarrassment to him in this thread:

Frank, you are a valued touchstone for my ideas and I would never deliberately cause you distress. So, Frank. I am truly sorry.

Sorry, but still correct. . . Laughing

As far as I have read all he does is abuse people and take a smug "I know everything and woebetide you if you don't agree with me attitude.

but you know him better than me... Crying or Very sad

I'm pretty sure I would enjoy popping a cool one with Frank. And he has a standing invitation to the Starbucks on 220th and Hwy 99 in Edmonds, WA. (Actually, you all do.)

I might not measure up to his standards, though.

Sorry, I will defer to your superior knowledge [of Frank] on this one

but I still don't see how joining in with thread by insulting people and continuing with this behaviour despite the fact that nothing worse than Pops - [Dork] has been coming back - makes anybody worth knowing...

PS got your message, Snood, but can't reply coz I am new here...agree it is strange, tho...

Frank's style of rhetoric is such that he often makes more points for the opposition than he does for himself. He is a marvel to observe.

The board would be boring without his color commentary. So far as the thread recently locked goes, I believe I had made my point.

Casino Joe,

Frank was his usual abusive self, but I find the arrogance of selfruled(or so it seems to me) quite frustrating. Especially considering the depth of his arguments. Now, he may very well be smarter then me, more eloquent then me, more <fill in your favorite positive adjective here> then me. But flaunting your supposed intelligence without even giving more then unfunded, unoriginal arguments comes over as being quite arrogant, and I think that is what really set Frank's teeth on the edge.

Joe...

...you remind me of one of those folks who buy a house near the end of the runway of an airport because they can get that house cheaper than one nowhere near the airport...

...and then write letters to the editor complaining about airplane noise.

Go back to your knitting...or whatever else it is you do when you are not intruding into areas too boorish for your delicate sensibilities...and leave the knock and drag to people with the stomach for it.

Or...continue to write your letters to the editor.

We need the laughs.

Like most food
We eat it only when dead
So if music is the food of life
And if god is dead
Dinner is served (with music)

I have just heard through the grapevine that God has been in intensive care for the past 2,000 years but has just been released! He will soon be returning to his duties as "Master of the Universe", albeit with limitations. He won't be able to answer prayers and will not be making any new galaxies for at least the next 10,000 years.
