Hi all, clicked
How bout that oil business in Alaska. I wasn't aware British Petroleum (BP) owned the field and had not inspected the pipeline once during the past seven years.
ehBeth, Here's wishing you a happy Canadian Civic Holiday......!!

Tuesday - trash day......... at least here at our home in NE TX........ For the past couple months, we have been leaving bags of old clothing for our trash collector. His church group uses what they can and then after cleaning and sorting sent the rest to Good Will, Salvation Army, etc.... I think that is a good thing. The clothing is coming from my mom's house - where she has been collecting it for years from the homes of relatives who have passed away. My mom's 92 and there is a lot of it. I have been pleading with her for the past 12 years to give it to charity and only recently has she agreed. It's a good thing. Mom is a survivor of everything from the Great Depression thru the shortages of WWII and on - she even saves old used nails. That's something.

Today, driving home from work, saw an SUV with a "Free Tibet" sign on the window. Then received an e mail from an advocacy group with the following article...
Dalai Drama
China plans massive diversion of Tibetan river water
The Chinese never met a problem they couldn't solve with a few billion dollars and a massive engineering project out of scale with anything ever attempted before by humanity. The latest is a $37 billion undertaking which would divert water from rivers in the high reaches of Tibet -- which, when you think about it, don't really need all that water anyway -- through an elaborate, 190-mile series of canals and tunnels to the western reaches of the over-tapped Yellow River, which feeds the water-parched northern regions of China. The diversion would initially carry about 1 trillion gallons a year, rising to 4.5 trillion gallons over time. Construction could start as soon as 2010. The technical challenges are formidable: for one, the proposed route would divert water from an altitude of 13,600 feet, where it's usually frozen. Much of Tibet's water comes from glaciers that are in the midst of melting, so, as Tibet expert Tashi Tsering understates it, "This project is definitely not meant to develop Tibet."
The world is totally insane.

Stradee,
Thanks for the Tibet story - you're correct - the worlds insane..........It has been so since recorded history. ie., the conflict in the "Middle East" that's in the news each day.....The conflict currently going on there has been going on for approximately three thousand six hundred years........ And, is still going on........It's a thing that G. Bush has not considered.
That's recorded history = read the "Old Testament"
Sanity should come in the future - a stupid guess would be - well within the next two thousand years.
In the mean time, all the current famous people will not even be foot-notes.

sue, ehBeths concerns, as all of ours are, is the question of why, and if the reasons given so far are palable. There isn't conclusive evidence to my mind, or ehBeths, that the only thing killing animal is the virus mentioned. There are more questions than answers.
You're postings are interesting, sue!
Dan, have you seen Spielbergs "Munich". If you get the chance, rent the CD. There won't to my mind ever be peace in the middle east until all factions decide that real estate isn't the reason they're killing each other. Talk about deeply rooted chaos! One scene depicts two of the factions - one the Jewish council waiting to receive the names of their next targets, the other a group from Hamas. They are both given the keys to the same safe house. Interesting how Spielberg directs the scene.

Hi all, clicked
Stradee, Yes, I have seen 'Munich' - also, have walked the streets of the city many times. Good beer.
I agree with Spielberg's assessment and storyline.
The problem with people living together on this Earth is - the people.
It's gonna take a long time to figure this out - but, Lord willing and the Creek don't rise - maybe, humanity will survive. There have been soooo many branches of our ancesters who have become extinct - it isn't beyond the realm of reason that we could go that way also.

Dan, mans been able to discover technology that could end hunger, war, destruction, and enviornmental hazards - yet chooses an unevolved path - and i can't for the life of me figure out why.
My grandmother once said "shirl, there isn't anything new under the sun" and i didn't understand her comment until later in life. I believe survival depends upon nature and the enviornment. God willing, mankind will evolve to a higher conciousness and achieve more - peacefully.
Who knows - miracles do happen.

Stradee, I call that the - "Path less thought out." grin
There's a lot of that going around. Iraq for instance.
Course the path to Iraq was paved with tax-payers money going into some rich friends pockets. That I believe. Oh, I see the Pentagon is pulling Halliburton out of Iraq and actually allowing bids - that never happened before.......And, there is the billions of dollars unaccounted for that was to be for reconstruction...... Aha, it must be the nearing end of the Bushes and their efforts of coverup.....Covering up the mess will not be easy with the internet making news and interest items available. The old days of keeping people ignorant and hiding stuff is really getting harder.

And the same companies that screwed up post-Katrina efforts now have the approval for bidless work in the future.

Dan, appears the administations covering their butts, again. But we don't expect anything different from them, now do we.
Mz Rice is all over the middle east, attempting to stop the fighting - citing Katrina as an example to the Israel Prime minister. You can ask people to evacuate, said she - but many can't. That's a revelation!
I'm throughly disgusted with politics - war mongers, and thieves.
Worse still, we have three more years of bushco and corps "leading" the nation. Damned tedious, imo.
I'm keeping my chosen path and fighting for what i can change. The rest i give to the universe.

Stradee, Everyone can see the 'strings' dangling all about Condi Rice - she never answers questions - just turns to Bush's old rhetoric and keeps talking and tapdancing to his tune. But, that's what shes paid to do.
