Thank you for your interest in my pictures.
I don't know if there are any left which might be interesting to you.
Some animals.

We had a cabana with no walls, so we had many visitors from the animal kingdom. They were really very shy and I often had no camera ready or the camera was too slow. especially the night visitors were cute.

One of the many donkey scenes.

Stradee,

Oaxaca in turmoil as civil unrest grows

Susan,
can't remember if I ever watched the movie.
Sierra Madre Del Sul is green and in its foothills like a tropical forest. Oaxaca city is a very pretty colonial town. Each of the different parts of Oaxaca State has its special charm.

Goldfinch made me wonder whether or not he only had one leg.

Ul,

I think it must be a different "Sierra" area in Mexico then.

ul, what great pics! The colors! Good Job!

Mexico's political turmoil, and after reading the article, I recalled a quote from Zapata's 'Plan de Ayala'...

"It is better to die on your feet, then live on your knees"...

ul, we love the photos - thank you for sharing.

sumac - I'm guessing, but, you may be thinking of the mountains shown in the movie "Treasure of the Sierra Madres". Those mountains are fake named and are in the desert of N Mexico where the movie was made. Those guys making those movies are devious.

clicked for another tree!!!!!!!!!

You are right, Danon, that is the movie I was thinking about. But also, when I did a small amount of research about the northern states of Mexico, particularly the one that has that railway journey to the coast through it, the mountains looked like the movie.

The Sierra Madre mountains are part of the backbone of North America, part of the chain which includes the US Rocky Mountains and the Canadian Rockies. The chain runs, prety well uninterrupted, from near the Arctic Circle, down through most of Mexico. It's all part of the same Rocky Mountain chain, just as the Catskills, the Poconos, the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Ozarks (and others) are all part of the Allegheny Mountain chain.

Hope that clears things up. Smile

Two ladies from the Isthmus.
Sunday afternnon at a beach, their children and grandchildren were wearing suits or blue jeans. Like many other elderly people they were wearing their national dresses. The long skirts were the same color as the ribbons in their braids.

Beautiful photos, Ul, particularly those of the old organ and the two women. Hopefully, everyone living on a hillside will escape mud slides caused by Hurricane John.

Merry Andrew,
Not to be picky, but did you not mean the Adirondack chain?

No. What I actually meant to say was the Appalachian chain. The Adirondacks, Alleghanies and Catskills are all part of the Appalachian range, along with the White Mountains of New Hampshire and the Green Mountains of Vemont. Sorry for any confusion.

Ul, I hope you don't mean to go through with that threat that these will be the last pics you post. Surely there must be more.
