Hi, possopo.

What is the whole sentence? Context can make a lot of difference when translating.

Without the sentence to refer to, I'd suspect the meaning was: waves approaching the shore.

waves pulled and i got some of the best turns i've ever had.

the guy is surfing so i guess the waves are getting bigger and making a nice curve to make turns easier.

When there's strong push from a storm/typhoon/hurricane that's already passed, ie. the water is calm again but the strength of the storm is still sending in huge breakers, plus a good offshore wind, the waves stand up beautifully, almost like they're being pulled back by an unseen force.

These are waves to die for, waves that just keep on building. This may well be what the surfers meant.
