Amarillo Slim has long been known as a great proposition gambler, and with this book, he proves it.
30 years ago, he won the World Series of Poker (back when the competition was tough, but few). He made the most of that, appearing on the Tonight Show and in a movie, and writing a book.
Now that poker is super-hot, he decided it was time to write another book.
Could anybody tell me what "proposition gambler" means? Thanks.
So, 'proposition gambler' here refers to someone who cheats on his gamble, right?
A "Proposition Gambler" doesn't cheat--but he doesn't give the sucker an even break, either.
Suppose you and Tryagain had a contest to see who knew more English Idioms? You'd bet on Tryagain? Correct?
Now, I announce--when I've collected the money--that you'll be able to use dictionaries and the internet and that TryAgain will be kept up all night the night before, forbidden all reference material and forced to guzzle six shots of malt liquor before the contest begins.
Suddenly your bet becomes a bit dubious.
