I am Old School, I used to Drag Race Semi-Pro in the early 80's
I raced at Gator Nationals and owned several Muscle cars over the years.
I have never know a GTO Judge to run 11's Stock. Never happen.
The list above is accurate and is more real world than that of the Manufactures numbers.

Check out this heavly Modified GTO Judge running 10.6

I'm gonna hav to disagree with a previous statement...
The camaro has always out powered the mustang by a long shot! Here are some examples:
-1967-68 SS-had a 396 producing 375 horses and 415 pound feet torque...
-1969 SS-had a 427... 7 liter producing 425-430 horses(WAY underated!!)..450 torque
-1969 COPO ZL1 Camaro-had a alluminum 427 work-horse... Rated at 430 horses(rated extremely low! for insurance purposes), but new dynos have rated it as high as 575 horses!!.. and 460 poung feet a torque!!!!... This is a total Mustang KILLER!!!!(:
-1970 Camaro SS- had a 396 producing 375 horses and 415 pound feet a torque
Now for some newer Camaro's:
-2000 Camaro- 5.7 liter V8 320 horses
-2001 Camaro- 5.7 liter V8 335 horses
GM cut production in 2002, but recently brought it back in 2009-2010
-2009-2010 Camaro SS- 6.2 liter V8 producing 426 horsepower!! (by-the-way... 2009-2010 Stang' ONLY has a 315 horse 4.6 liter!)

Now!... looking at these specs... compare them to the Mustang of the same year and you tell me which is more powerful!(:

But the 2011 Mustang has 412 hp and out runs the 2011 Camaro by 3 tenths in the 1/4 mile and performs better in the twisties even thought the Camaro has IRS and the Mustang has a Live Axle..

@TBONE,
This generation of Mustangs vs Camaro? I'm not sure about their technical stats of either car but on a gut aesthetic reaction? I prefer the Camaro is more aggressive and sportier of a design. Got my vote.

That was a COPO (the Yenko COPO in fact). The 1969 SS had at most a 396.

The 1969 ZL1 required higher-octane gas than was available at ordinary gas stations even when they were selling leaded gasoline, and the engine was not capable of idling. Not entirely practical except on a race track.

GM is bringing back the ZL1 for 2012, by putting a supercharger on the 6.2 liter engine (and the modern ZL1 will be capable of idling and of using ordinary gasoline). It should be an interesting rival to the Cobra.

Anyway, how come no one is speaking up for MOPAR in this squabble over who has the best pony car??

My 2 Cents :

It probably matters a lot more whether you buy a base version vs a higher-end model than it matters whether you buy one brand verses another brand. If you want one, buy the one you want.

I see some real problems with the list. The most glaring issue is: Why are the L88 Corvettes way below the L72 Corvettes, instead of right up by the ZL1?

And why did they cover the humdrum 1971 LS5 Vette, but skip the much more worthwhile LS6?

They clearly spared no effort to cover uncommon cars. They had numbers for the ZL1 version of the Corvette even though there were only two of them ever made. Yet somehow they miss the LS6 Vette?

And the same with the 68 Firebird. Just the ordinary version and not the high-performing Ram Air II?

And what was up with the Hemis? Did the drivers take a nap in the middle of the race or something?

Here are some more reasonable numbers:

Code:1969 Corvette L88 11.541
1969 Camaro ZL1 11.775
1970 Hemi Cuda 11.809
1968 Firebird 400 Ram Air II 11.826
1971 Corvette 454 LS6 11.944

Actually, I'm sorry I mentioned that. (And mentioning it was actually the reason I started posting in this thread to begin with.)

Now that I've thought about it a bit, simply slapping a supercharger on a small block does not make a Camaro worthy of the label ZL-1.

Look at the aluminum V10 in the new Dodge Viper, and look at the high-revving aluminum engine in Ford's BOSS 302. Both are far more in the spirit of the original ZL-1 than an ordinary small block with a supercharger slapped on it. GM should do better.
