It is claimed that it may have affect on prostate cancer, possibly even killing cancer cells, also another study says it prevents heart disease etc.

The independence of the first study is in question.

I love the stuff. As it's rather pricey, I don't buy as much as I would like, however.

Well, sort of Dys . . . grenadine is made from corn syrup, red currant juice and pomegranate juice. The French word for pomegranate is grenade--hence the word grenadine.

Ok good to know some facts, I only know that the Lady Diane keeps a small bottle of pomegranate/grenadine juice in the fridge that she uses mixed with other juices for her "elixer". She is an odd duck, as it were. (I'm perfectly normal)

I thought I might google and post a link to one of the many recent articles on the benefits of pomegranate juice re prostate cancer, but I was diverted by this instead:

Pomegranate Margarita
From Mixdrink.com
Jul. 5, 2006 12:00 AM

1 3/4 cups chilled pomegranate juice
Kosher salt
1 1/2 cups silver tequila
1 cup triple sec
2/3 cup fresh lime juice
Ice cubes
8 lime wedges

Pour 1/4 cup pomegranate juice in a saucer and dip rims of glasses. Then dip the moistened glass rims in kosher salt. Stir the remaining pomegranate juice, tequila, triple sec and lime juice.

Working in batches, shake the mixture in a large ice-filled shaker, then strain into the glasses. Garnish each margarita with a lime wedge.

Makes 8 servings.

Might even be good without the tequila..

I love Pomegranate juice. I even found chocolate covered Pomegranate ice cream bars at the market. Love them too!

I'd be interested to know how much "real" pommegranite flavouring is in the soa and bars and how much is artificial flavouring.

I find pommy granite a little hard to digest and gritty as well
